Agreed! My biggest concern will be the reliability.
Although I don't think it's fair to speculate until father time tells the story:thumbsup:

Can’t wait to see the “market adjustment “ on these along with “shortages” it worked out so well for the dealers the last few years I can only imagine the shenanigans they’ll be playing with these

Okay, so whoever got the TRD lift OEM, directly from Toyota and said yeah that's all I need? I see most guys on this forum taking even the higher levels of the third gen and still building it to their desire. I think what you'll see with the 24 is a lot of guys buying a lower level truck and then putting the aftermarket components that they really want on the truck rather than buying them directly from Toyota.

Hasn’t toyota been doing turbos on 4 cylinder engines (Lexus and Hilux) for a really fucking long time? Like someone said this ain’t their first rodeo.

I also find it hilarious that people moan about not enough bells and whistles compared to Ford etc, but love the reliability and now complain they may lose the reliability .. it’s like Toyota is jumping around trying to figure out what we want — id rather have a complex bells and whistles truck from toyota than Ford I’ll tell you that for sure

Absolutely, the moan culture is real. The main factor for those type of comments are lack of hand on experience or driven by the cousin of the friend, of a guy that works with the blah blah blah that works at Nissan or something along that line. Few companies have the experience that Toyota has with forced induction. Again, I’m not saying Toyota is the best thing to ever happened to humanity but they do have some hours of experience when it comes to the topic at hand. Cheers.

I'm happy that there are some real differences between the trim levels. I'm happy to pay more to get more. It wasn't always so clear on the 3rd gen.

A couple nice upgrades but they can keep that 4 banger turbo. That along with the 8 speed auto = $$$$$ in future service. Guess I'll be keeping my current Taco till my grave. :)

Is 17” standard for that size wheel? I guess they can’t be any bigger? I assume this is good??? The issue with the current Tacoma is the frame, brakes, engine cannot really handle huge tires, RTT etc.. it’s just not a sufficient platform. With 1700 pounds payload, massive torque and huge brakes … you’ve got a great foundation to work with. If the price is right I don’t see what there is to complain about. Not sure what else, aside from a front locker, Toyota could have done. They even added a sway disconnect.

Also I am not buying the 4 cyl/turbo is not going to be reliable. Toyota has been doing that for a long time in the Hilux and Lexus models.

King 2.5’s with adjusters from accutune front and rear, 88 rotors rear add a leaf, Camburg X-joint UCA’s, Factory style trd pro 16” wheels with 0 offset, 285/75/16 KO2’s, pro grille, Front bumper viper cut, trd front skid plate, full RCI under skid plates, Cali raised trail sliders, exhaust cut dump, KDMax 10.0 tune
I agree. It’s going to cost a fortune to fix and repair stuff when it’s out of warranty. All the new stuff may be nice but it just means more money in repairs down the road. Thats just me I guess though. That’s the reason I bought a Tacoma as opposed to other brands. Naturally aspirated V6, and no unnecessary gimmicks.

You got a 2022 (like I did) so you can ride it out until 2040 or so. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever, but I’m going to trade up for the monster torque and cool features. The vehicle will be more complex but I’m not that worried.

I guess the third gen is the new second gen now … it’s so reliable! It’s naturally aspirated! It’s so simple! Everything changes as it ages :)

Funny you say that because in places like Thailand you can buy a fancy double cab with all the features for city cruising or you can buy a regular cab for farting around on the banana plantation in the middle of nowhere.

I don’t see why it has to be all or nothing.

It would be pretty awesome to have an extra cab 4x4 with a manual transmission and the 2.7L motor carrying over.

I was being a smart-ass and it had to be a miss quote. 2nd gen and I think 3rd gen rotors are 12.5" and with 17" wheels you can go slightly bigger but I am talking fractions of inches. The new Tacoma as with most other vehicles are adding features that are actually moving in the wrong direction from what real off roaders are looking for, hence the large aftermarket support for 1st,2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma's.

    Because now it shows movies?

Not sure what it's showing that the current one isn't. Hell, it's probably easier to see now

Why the wrong direction? I just put slightly heavier tires on my third gen and my brakes and engine can barley handle them. The payload is also pretty weak. I welcome the more robust braking and torque etc. I see your point on mods but I want a more robust truck.

We need less computer controlled but more driver control features. Why Old Man Emu? For North America give me King or Fox. I don't want driving modes. Give me an Atlas transfer case, no ADD, manual locking hubs, no ABS or the ability to turn it off, 35's should have been a minimum, I don't want the seats to be some over engineered suspension seats just give a quality Scheelman,PRP or a Corbeau etc. But since Toyota won't do that the aftermarket will be alive and well. If you want something that will actually be used offroad buy a 2nd gen and make it what you want.
