I'm looking at buying a 2024 SR5 Tacoma. 17" wheels are standard on this model. I'm thinking of upgrading to 18" wheels like on the Tacoma sports I've had in the past. Does anyone know of a reason not to do this or maybe the pros and cons. I've been told to make sure the 18" wheels are scanned by the sensor when doing the upgrade. I talked to Toyota about this and they did not recommend the upgrade because the SR5 manual supports only 17" wheels.

Tires will likely be more expensive for the 18's

Yes and if the cost is too much to just do an upgrade, I probably wouldn't do the upgrade.
