Agreed... Hard seeing Coop taking one like that. His front and rear wheel got X-rutted and I thought he was gonna high side over that berm. Barcia and Anderson both had some hard get offs.

 

I'd be willing to bet that Barcia gets that plated and is back on the bike and on the gate for Rd1. We will see.

We will see. But there is a chance Webb wasn't going to race Outdoors even before that crash, from what I heard. Just have to wait and see how it plays out.

 

Does Webb have a ride yet?

 

His contract was supposed to end after this SX season with an MX option. Then he claimed that he was going to exercise the option and race Outdoors. But I heard something at work 2 weeks ago that there is now a chance that he likely will not, but it wasn't 100% yet, last I was told. So if he ends up not racing MX, then he would be considered a free-agent immediately and could potentially do WSX for whoever and then sign on a USA team or WSX team etc in the fall. So there is a lot going on.

 

Webb will replace Tomac at Star Yamaha after Tomac wins MX and retires.

 

Webb qualifies for supermotocross in fall since he already won a race? Think he'd stay with KTM until SMX is over?

 

Potentially, but I was talking about just this summer not doing MX for KTM now.

That's what I don't understand about all of this. I would've thought for sure he finishes out the summer and also SMX on KTM. But like I said, I can't say at the moment, i just heard otherwise so just have to see if it plays out.

I agree with you. But I'm saying at work, I was told that he wasn't.

 

I think you have to accumulate points in both SX and MX series to qualify for SMX. Probably why Tomac decided to defend his outdoor title this year so he has a shot at the massive SMX playoff purse.

Edit: you were right by virtue of LCQ. Still seems a bit risky with only x2 spots, depending on how many guys take that route in the end.

I tried reading that too. I couldn't understand who qualifies. Both sx and mx or just need top 20 of each. But I think it's a points thing. So tomac going to have say 20 points from just sx.
I'd guess the highest starting points possible would be 40. I'm probably wrong on the points scoring

 

Work with the promoters and agents etc. Once it's announced 1 way or the other I can dm you why as of right now we are told he is not.
Also, Matthes just mentioned that he is supposedly doing WSX instead, this summer. I was not aware of that specifically but if true then I now understand why we were told he was out.

 

WSX still seems like an absolute crapshoot to me. 6 races between Jul 1 and Nov 25, two of which are back to back days (11/24 & 11/25). That's a lot of time away from factory resources, training, and testing. Payout is nice, but man I just cannot get on board with it. Especially the teams and riders participating.

 

I agree. Funny thing is, the rider pay is rumored to not be as good as expected. The teams get the money and divide pay. And there were some talking heads saying that the rider pay was lower than expected. Not sure if it's true but Matthes brought it up. I'm sure he probably talked in depth on the show but I didn't listen.

In general, the logistics of travel like that and lack of big names etc is going to be a challenge for that series. And right now, US Factory teams want their riders here. So it's tough. Last year's pilot series was trimmed down to less events and this year's schedule is less than they initially announced that it would be. So, I find that odd also. That being said, at least it's another series to watch and a series for some of the mid/lower pros to make $.

 

Kind of uncharacteristic that Barcia hasn't posted any sort of injury update yet.

 

He's for sure out the remainder of SX. Haven't seen anything official about Nationals but I just had mentioned before that I expect him to race. Still looking like Webb out and it also appears the Roczen WSX rumors are true. But he still may do the first couple rounds of MX.

 

The race before the race is happening this weekend. Gonna try and get there early to catch it in person.
