Ah okay, i guess Toyota has developed tires that can phase into and become one with the ground for maximum efficiency then.

On another note, I have a totally real bridge to sell you....

Your right, Toyota has finally woken up years late and developed many rolling concepts that won't be out for a few years at a minimum. Which is why the Toyota CEO got ousted.....

Yes the picture I posted was CGI (getting ready for work here and hurrying)

but they do indeed have rolling prototypes as Steve posted.

2026-27 believe we are going to see a bunch of production roll outs. Not that long away.

They have an EV timeframe chart floating around here somewhere, maybe someone can post it.

Yeah they have BEV's coming in a few years, meanwhile the Silverado EV, F150 Lightning, Rivian, RAM 1500 REV etc. all have come to market, and that's just trucks.

My only point was that Toyota is extremely late to see the writing on the wall for BEV's and their CEO Akio Toyoda was ousted as a result. They are ~3 years behind the curve thanks to Akio Toyoda being unable to see where the market has been heading, wasting money on unfeasible tech like hydrogen.

Who doesn't want ~650HP+ while getting 65+MPGe with no torque curve?

That’s ok. Toyota always take their time. Look how long it took to upgrade the Tacoma, Tundra…and still waiting on the 4Runner.

While there are ev trucks available now, they aren’t quite there yet to be practical. Think I’ll wait and see what Toyota brings to the table.

The only thing that really isn't "practical" with BEV's right now in my opinion is the towing distance.

I don't really care if it takes me 15 minutes to charge after driving 300+ miles (which would only be on vacations/road trips), perfect time to get out and stretch the legs from that 5+ hour straight drive...

That is the thing for me, towing is dismal can barely get out of town without having to stop. Not much charging options where I like to camp here in Idaho. I don’t do campgrounds either.

Daily would be no problem. The price is a bit ridiculous too, sure do like the Rivian, but it would never pay for itself compared to a Tacoma, even if gas hits $10/gallon.

Yeah cost prohibitive and can't tow for shit. Economies of scale will resolve the first issue, I don't know about the latter.

I know 700 HP and 65 MPGe will be sweet once it's $40k like the lightning actually started out at.

We have a couple clients that have Rivians, man they sure are nice. The cost though, even if charging was free. After 10 years of ownership, a Tacoma is still cheaper to own and operate. I priced out a Rivian as close as could to how I have my Tacoma setup, Rivian is $120K even after the rebate, as sales tax makes the rebate nil, paid $40K OTD for the Taco.

$120? wow, they are 88k for the R1T here. No sales tax though in NJ on BEV not including point of sale state rebate at sales time.
