Easy to say. Impossible to do without a plan. Never going to get rid of gas vehicles in our lifetime. No worries.

My niece, who lives in CA, has an electric vehicle. She rents a gas vehicle when they visit family in AZ. She says it’s too much of a hassle to plan and wait to charge up. Think about Californian’s try and take their electric vehicles out of state in 2035, lol.

Toyota could electrify the Tacoma TNGA-F platform, but judging by the sales success Ford has had with the Lightning. Which was a battery electric retro fit of the gas F-150, I don't think Toyota wants to be in the position to lose tons of money. It could always be done, Ford has proven that.

I can't see anyone wanting an electric midsize pickup. Toyota would be better of designing a new model electric truck if they want to be in that business. Rivian isn't exactly killing it sales either. Both Rivian and Ford have designed capable electric trucks, but there aren't many people out there buying them. Ram and GM must still be living in 2021 with their new plans to build E trucks.

The TNGA-F platform was designed to accommodate hybrid or electric drivetrain. Toyota is absolutely planning an all-electric Tacoma for sale in the near future.
A plug-in hybrid version would be fantastic for those of us who use our trucks as daily drivers. Run on battery for quick trips into town, but still have gas for more power and range when needed.
One of the big issues is adding a LOT of weight to a truck with a relatively small payload to begin with.

I'm sure TNGA-F was designed to accommodate a battery electric drive train, but I don't believe Toyota any active plans to produce one or the capability. I'm not sure how close Toyota is to building the conventional 4th gen. They aren't going to waste time and resources building an electric until demand for the gas truck subsides. Maybe in another ten years when TNGA-F gets a major-minor redesign.

I'd expect to see a bzX based compact truck before that happens. That's already a rolling electrified drivetrain, and a more practical application for an E truck. That won't slow 4G production. That's if anyone wants to see a 6G T4R in the next ten years.

The 4th gen is getting announced in a few days.

Good point. Especially with Maverick sales cutting into midsize trucks.

Yes, but that isn't going to tell me the date the 1st 4G rolls off the line, and can be purchased at the dealer. I'm sure it's close and at what capacity will Yota be able churn out new trucks?

Things I'm looking at as it pertains to Toyota electrifying the Tacoma, which may need it's own plant.

bz seems like the easier more cost effective route for Toyota to go E truck and compete against Maverick.

"there aren't many people out there buying them" Bro what? The F150 lightning doubled production capability like 3 times and supply still can't meet demand which is why they have such a markup and go for $60k+...

Imagine claiming nobody is buying the 700+hp 70+ MPGe truck that shits all over ICE trucks....

Not in comparison to F-150 or anything else Ford sells. They have probably delivered more Rangers than Lightnings in Q1 of this year.

Right because they have to increase production capability to meet the massive demand. They have a backlog of orders that goes past 1 year... Every single F150 lightning made today was sold 6+ months ago. They can't build them as fast as they can sell them, yet you claimed "there aren't many people out there buying them".

Future Tacoma mall crawlers will need a Honda generator. Strapped to their Prinsu rack.

I'd not be too opposed to a plug in hybrid, I suppose. Ideally, down the road when and if they figure out how to produce it with less cost in energy and get the distribution worked out, I'd like to see hydrogen fueled IC engines combined with plug-in hybrid.

I have little interest in pure EV's at this time. That may change with improvements in battery tech.

They should really use the same motor as the RAV4 hybrid. We have one of those and that motor has some good power and average about 40mpg.

Yeah, I don't understand it. What is the point of saying things to make you look like an idiot, other than to just look like an idiot. Worse, to throw away your integrity to do it.

Eih, this is very threatening to some folks I guess
