That’s a perfectly good reason not to have one right now. I my personal reasons why I don’t have one yet either.
My post was aimed at the guy that thinks they are going to be a short-lived fad, which they most certainly are not. Charging times will drop, range will improve, infrastructure will grow. Maybe not as quickly as we would all like it to, but those things have been happening, and will continue to happen.
And even as things are right now, it’s more than good enough for millions and millions of people so far.

EVs are here to stay and will only get better with time. The battery tech is constantly changing. Also people keep bringing up that Ford is loosing $30k to $50k on everyone they sell which is not the case. R&D and building facilities cost money. Every single startup or new product created has a cost to bring it online. People forget that Tesla lost money for the first 10 years and now they sale the number 1 car in the US and globally that has one of the highest profit margins.

I don't see EV personal adoption growing much more the boom has already bust here in the US. The only real growth will be seen among commercial companies, that also build and maintain their own charging infrastructure. SSB? Those are years out at best, according to the people who hype them up. Then what? Whats on the horizons after the introduction of SSB? I'd expect to see a slow down in the construction of new charging infrastructure, a charger or two going up in a parking lot isn't really charging infrastructure. I'd go as far as saying less people will be going electric than have over the past few years. EV isn't going away, but it's growth is seeing a downturn in the US.

Might not even have to worry about charging station wait times since you can charge at home, however hope that thing has enough range to escape the reach of the hurricane before it needs charging again.

For me I travel a lot back roads, camp in out if the way places. Not much if any way to charge it. While with a gasser, just bring extra Jerry cans with me. I don’t do camp grounds, and even if I did they are usually booked out a year in advance the places I like to go. Don’t like to plan that far, and like spur of the moment trips.

The last few times I evacuated, it was bumper to bumper traffic for hours while waiting for both sides of the interstate to open up as one-way travel. Was still able to make it to my destination with one tank of gas, thankfully. But someone living in Miami and having another hurricane like Irma, that traveled up the peninsula of Florida, would certainly struggle to make it somewhere safe in time. Might as well hunker down and hope for the best. Or, have an ICE as a backup.

Being out West where nothing really happens other than wild fires, can only imagine the nightmare that is. Do have a bunch of family in Florida though. Wonder what the day will be like when they completely outlaw ICE.

I don't imagine they'll be outlawed in our lifetimes to be honest. I think the grid would need some major overhauls to support the added load, and I feel like that will move at the speed of snail.

ICE will never be banned, just slowly become less common. And that will take many years. And eventually be the domain of hobbyists. Kind of like horses. By that point synthetic fuels will be more common and affordable, and that's what you'll run your classic car on.

Ford is now saying instead of losing 2 billion dollars in their electric vehicle division this year they will instead lose over 4 billion dollars in their electric vehicle division. Ford dealers have to sign into a contract costing them 1.2 million dollars to become a Ford electric vehicle dealer and now for the best part one of their dealers did all of this and when he went to the city to have his required electric vehicle charging stations hooked up they refused him because they don't have the capacity to give him for the charging stations. This dealer ended buying a diesel generator and built a wall to keep it out of sight of the customers so he could have charging stations.

Here is one for you involving General Motors, they are forcing Cadillac dealers to sign onto their electric vehicle programs but many Cadillac dealers were not on board so General Motors offered to buy out any Cadillac dealer that wanted out and here is the kicker, 1/3 of the franchised Cadillac dealers took up General Motors on their buy out offer.

Right now Ford has had to lower their prices on the Lightning pickup because there is very little demand for them, they are backing up on dealer lots. With Fords revised electric vehicle division loss for this year from 2 billion to 4 billion Ford says they are losing $60,000 dollars on every electric vehicle they sell.

There is just not much demand for electric vehicles, those that want them pretty much already have them. Heck in California 1 out of every 5 electric vehicle owners goes back to combustion engine vehicles because of how inconvenient electric vehicles are to operate.

Wow, so this whole system that’s still in its infancy isn’t perfected yet? Shocking.

The Ford Lightning, in its current form, isn’t meant to replace ICE F-150s. It’s the very beginning of this and its primary goal is to showwhat’s possible and to kickstart the R&D for future trucks. Nobody is the least bit shocked or concerned that it’s losing money in these early stages.

This is a joke right? This can’t be a serious statement. An EV is currently, at this moment, the number one selling vehicle in the world.

Some of you guys need to remember that us who drive trucks are just a tiny sliver of a fraction of vehicle owners worldwide. That vast majority of the world doesn’t drive trucks. There’s a massive industry out there that is steamrolling forward despite this tiny blip of a few data points that need a truck to overland or a hurricane escape, or whatever other niche need we have. We are a tiny tiny minority. The fact that EVs don’t suit us at the moment is completely irrelevant to the rest of the world.

Some people don't think what's happening is real. EV's do sell way better outside the USA. But people in the USA want the change to be perfect or not at all. It's a fast food mentality. When others are spending 50-75% more for gas than electric to go the same mileage then they'll understand...maybe. Because that's what the comparison is now.

Most people that try a three-way don't keep doing it. I’d like to talk about the three-way between my wife and me and someone else that hasn’t happened yet. On THIS thread. You all understand. Let’s go.

Toyota announced a pickup, not necessarily a Tacoma, before or in 2026. Most likely with Solid State batteries also.

OMG with your solid state fixation, Steves! Five bucks says there are no 2026 solid state Toyota pickups in North America.

How is it a fixation? Toyota is sending out the news and I'm just using them as a source, also SS batteries are better for longer range and faster charging and weight reduction. It could not be SS but most likely will be.
