OK, first post here, and I can't believe I am actually asking a question about lug nuts...

Anyway, I just put a down payment on my new TRD Sport (woohoo!) to replace my old 2006 F-150. I wanted to do this for a while and was waiting for the new body style. I had considered a Tundra, but the little brother was just so much cooler looking! :) No offense to Tundra owners of course...

And speaking of looking cool, I had the dealer install a predator step bar and the black 18" wheels that I had seen on a TRD Pro. I bought the wheels and center caps, but did not even think of the lug nuts! So now I have black wheels and chrome lug nuts.

I see that the older models had M12 x 1.5 lugs, and the 2024's have M14 x 1.5. but the lug nuts look different than the tapered seat nuts I am used too. They have a washer or a large face, and I can't seem to find the correct nuts from Summit/Jegs.

Yes, I can buy them at the dealer, but I was wondering if anyone has used aftermarket nuts on factory wheels. And if so, which ones??

    Thanks!!

    LOCKS or LUGS?

The only Gorilla lug nuts I see that are listed as "Toyota Mag Style" are 12M x 1.5. The rest have a tapered seat...

Wheel locks are stupid. I lost the key to the locking lug nuts on a Jeep one time, so I took it in thinking they must have a spare key. Nope.
Guy took a slightly oversized socket, hammered it onto the circular locknut, then took it right off. 10 second operation. Have never bothered with locking lug nuts again.

All you can do is slow them down. I have been using their locking system for as long as I can remember. Every lug is a lock so I just add to their time, hopefully.

I have the locks. My searching just made me more confused on which size. I finally called a few places to get the correct size.

OK, back to the lug nuts (not locks) discussion... :)

I called the local dealer (Fred Anderson Toyota) and was told the lug nut are $16.75. Each. For a grand total of $402. Seriously.

He also told me that there is a retail site (FAT.parts) and the prices are better, so I went to the site and yes, the prices are better. $8.79 each for a total of $210.96. Still pretty crazy since I usually buy Gorilla lugs for around $50-60.

I might have to drive around with black wheels and chrome lug nuts for a little while. Also, the part number is 90942-A1008, which is described as "hub nut with washer" yet gives no indication of color (black or chrome), so I am leery to order these, at that price, when I am really not sure what I am getting...

I went back & look, it was dtyson in the other thread that stated he installed 22+ black tundra lugnuts after he painted his wheels black...
Maybe call your local discount tire, they may have a more reasonable option???

I went throught this looking for cheaper alternative to factory when dechroming my Limited. I bought a set off Amazon, and on receipt, I refused to use them. I should have read the reviews, they were shearing off and causing major headaches. I finally bought a complete set of used OEM lug nuts off eBay. I paid around $100 for the full set. FYI.

When I fit my Tundra wheels, Discount Tire had no aftermarket alternatives, so I had to buy OEM too. Maybe the aftermarket has caught up now with quality lug nuts.

buys black lug nuts... 6 months later new thread. dealer scratches up my black lugs nuts.. any nut that is taken on and off multiple times is not going to look good forever. and yea i know buutt plastic lined sockets..
unless you rotate your tires yourself plan on something getting scratched.

I got a ‘24 TRD Sport presumably somewhere between here and Mexico, en route. Putting aside the do or do not on locks for lugs, I like Gorilla style locks. Am I correct in believing the standard TRD Sport wheels are black with black lugs? Any experience with this size…style Gorilla locks on the new Taco?

Where do you get a plastic lined socket, and can it handle the torque required on the nuts?

I’m curious why Toyota stopped using black lug nuts on 4th gen (TRD) production sometime late spring/early summer this year…

I spray painted my stock chrome lug nuts. If they scratch I’ll spray them again. Lol
