My humble opinion.. i know nothing.. t
The stick ain't going anywhere. They didn't develop it to drop it... It's here to stay, and I'll imagine they will drop a stick 4runner in a few years winning everything that year. But I will fucking buy the first one

Like I said there, I was planning to drive across the river and buy an SR5. I saw the OR at McCarthy, did the online trade appraisal (which lowballed me by about 2k). I wasn't going to bother, since I had a different truck lined up across the river.

Internet manager called within 5 minutes. Gave him a fair take it or leave it offer (probably a bit more "fair" to their end than mine, but I don't fight to the last $50 like I used to). He called back 30 min later and they took the deal.

Good stuff - that ISM is a hustler - peppered me with videos that got me to pull the trigger on Thanksgiving. Hope the truck treats you well.

I held off to getting a Tacoma until I could get a manual transmission model. There was no way I was getting an automatic after knowing Toyota still had a MT Tacoma. I got mine in end of May at a MD dealership although I live in PA. I put over 200 miles on her in the first evening of ownership and am heading towards 10k miles soon. I have had no issues with it even in the snow here in the central mountains of PA with the original all-season tires. I do have a couple of gripes but they are all first world problems and have nothing to do with utility or reliability. Great truck so far and I love it.

I put 180000km on my 20 sport MT, one set of brakes, 2 sets of tires and 20 oil changes, nothing else broke. Hoping my 2025 sport 6mt will do as well, the transmission I find is way better than the 20 and much smoother. I find the stiffer sport setup more to my liking, fuel economy seems better.. My turbo may have an issue however because that thing is loud as hell. 1000km in Hopefully lots more.

I have owned 5 Tacomas, all but one with a MT for all the reasons others have already outlined here. They included 2002, 2004, 2017, 2019, and now the 2024. I have to say that even though I am skeptical if it will match the durability of the previous trucks, only time will tell; the 2024 is the best driving of all…more power and better gearing. I still have my 2002 SR5 5sp MT that is just shy of 300K, running strong with the original factory clutch.

To answer the OP directly; yes, the 6sp MT was foremost in my decision to buy and I am pleased with the purchase based on the minimal experience with the new truck.
