I put mine on the forward seal. Other Toyotas (other vehicles?) have a rubber seal forward of the cowl air inlet. The rubber seal is usually attached to hard plastic. The forward edge of the 4g Tacoma cowl air inlet is a soft flexible plastic with no rubber seal. It does an adequate job sealing air but does a poor job providing support to the rear of an aluminum hood. I added the weatherstripping to this "seal" but since the base plastic is so flexible it only provides limited support. Because of the angle of this seal, you have to use a "side bulb" seal. Placing a seal on the rear "lip" of the cowl air inlet provides a stiff base for the weatherstripping and will provide the necessary support for the rear of the hood. Normally that area isn't sealed so I'm not sure how it would affect the designed air flow. The cowl air inlet is split in two with the rear lip separating the two sections, I'm not sure why it's partitioned.

If Toyota had made the forward seal out of hard plastic with a rubber seal, there would be no problems. Or if the forward seal was connected to the middle partition with several ribs, like the other Toyota products currently in my garage, there would be more rigidity and again there wouldn't be a problem.

It’s a problem on the truck because of the light weight hood……
    It’s annoying and distracting……….

don’t have any hills to tow, in flat East Texas.

I checked my truck and your assessment of the cowl is on point. The forward seal is touching the hood. Question - did it get rid of the hood flutter?

Seems that the source of my hood shake is the foam spots near the back of the hood that are nonexistent... When I push in that area I can easily flex the hood down.
Same problem that Toyota has had for years.

It did not get rid of it but it did reduce it, the forward lip of the cowl intake is just too flimsy to provide proper support. The idea to to make the front of the cowl intake one piece (flexible plastic) vs two piece plastic plus rubber seal might have worked with a steel hood but an aluminum hood flexes too much.

Thats disappointing to hear that it did not go away totally, because you have a Pro……so you have the hood mat included…..

So i did dithe deed and it completly removed the shake/flutter on my huge sport hood with no sound mat yet. I only put x2, 6" pieces toward the center of the most rearward trim in the same location as the original post.
I will note that personally i wouldent do the weather strip across the entire back. I can see where the hood rubs the trim everywhere but the center, so it may put un-necessary pressure across the entire trim piece or hood. also if you do it all the way across it may cause the front seal to not get good contact letting hot air into your hvac.
My front seal is not showing any rub marks in the center of the hood, so it seems the seal isnt the greatest to begin with. but its getting good contact on the other 75% of the surface. That mc master car link That Patos posted is a way better material than the mamzon stuff, so its worth it. but i wouldent put anything on the front seal at this point.
