2024 Tacomas are delayed

Looks like Toyota is hitting the same snag as GM did with the twins during the rollout....EPA Certification. At least according to TFL.

Wonder if Toyota can not get them shipped to the ports while they wait on the certification. You know those ports are just itching to get their crap installed.

 

“We have information that many new 2024 Tacomas have already been built at the Mexico facility (facilities), but none of them appear to be shipped yet.‘

I wonder if Toyota will shipped them to dealers slowly. If dealer lots are flooded with Tacomas that could give the impression that the 2024s are Not scarce.

 

Bigger problem is them getting rid of all the 2023s. Edmunds stills shows over 3500.

 

There are several 24’s showing up on cargurus for sale all over the country‍♂️

 

Do they have pictures? Sounds like dealers are listing allocations. They did the same with the 3rd gens.

 

I work for a Toyota forklift dealer (Toyota material handling) they got it serious trouble with the EPA 2 years ago. Not surprised the EPA has a magnifying glass on them.

Seems like old news to me. They are a little late compared to their projection.

 

Sounds like this first year Gen4 might turn into the first and second year Gen4.

 

The few dates I saw online for estimated delivery to the dealer were early February. I don't know if those will be the first trucks arriving, or a later batch though.

 

I'm OK with a couple month delay. I'd rather get a new truck in April vs February.

I don’t see how this story pertains to the 2024 Tacoma timeline. Unless of course it gets delayed to September 2024, but that isn’t going to happen.

 

My coworker just put a deposit on TRD sport that is incoming. Dealer said 2-3 weeks it should be in. 5k market adjustment... He was able to get them down to 2k. trucks gonna be 51k before tax title etc.

 

I was being snarky about waiting for the 2024 Tacoma. In 1983 I wanted a newer Corvette because I generally traded in every 2 years. I ended up keep my 81 Vette and buying a motorcycle.

 

My dad tells this story of wanting a 1984 Vette since it was the new gen. I was born the 5th of June, 1 week later he took delivery of his Victory Red Corvette. It still sits in their shop, currently has 906 miles on it.

 

Mine always wanted a ‘71 Stingray, never got it. Was born in ‘72.

Never could understand buying a vehicle to just look at it, they are meant to be driven.

 

Exactly, he thought it would be cool to sell in 30-50 years. But unfortunately the 84 is not a collector, it has more sentimental value than anything for him. My mom has a picture of him and I in front of it, she calls it her 40/40/80 picture. I turned 40, then the car turned 40 a week later, then dad turned 80 a week after. He asked me if I want it but it honestly has more sentimental value than anything. Not sure what we will do with it. Maybe auction it off when it turns 50? It won't be worth more than $12,000 - $16,000 tops.
