Interesting data. Thanks for the link.

It'll be more interesting to see the weird conclusions people derive from it. I notice Toyota didn't sell any Xtracab non-hybrid manual TRD Pro's, for example. I guess nobody wanted those, as the data shows... ;)

PreRunner sales much less than I would have guessed.

So, white SR5s are the most popular. I never would have guessed that by the discussions on this forum.

most people are just gonna spring for 4x4 when looking at an offroad focused truck.

People take what they can get. Plus, SR5's have most of the equipment people want and are a fair bit cheaper. White's the most popular color for new cars in the US for years now. Makes sense to me.

I wonder if that's what got pushed as the fleet configuration, too.

White SR5s are a common fleet vehicle.

I think 2-wheel drives in general are low volume sellers.

I'd be surprised if a significant percentage of Toyota trucks sold to fleet buyers. I think GM and Ford have sewed up that market. In my area, I rarely see Tacomas or Tundras with commercial decals except maybe for small businesses. I've noticed that state and local agencies use Ford trucks.

When I bought my PreRunner in July there were a total of 2 in the entire state of Texas. It's hard to sell what you don't make.

I'd guess that they adjust their production based on what's selling. If all of the Prerunners have sold out the minute they hit the lot, then they'll make more. If red trucks are selling, make more red trucks. If black trucks aren't selling, don't make so many. I'm sure Toyota is analyzing sales across all regions and manufacturers by every metric you can imagine. A company that makes a ton of trucks that nobody wants can't survive.

Looks like January's numbers are down compared to Dec, Nov, and October. January looks to be the lowest month for sales every year. January weather also sucked freezing storms and wildfires didn't help.

With the late release of the 24 and subsequent late release of 25s what does that say about the numbers for January are sales worse than the sub 19k units sold suggest compared to any other January?

Seems like a good amount, but lower than the previous three months. Still a good number as far as January goes compared to prior years.

What does 18,766 units sold say about Jan/24 good, bad, did Toyota expect to sell more/less?

Still majority market share for midsize trucks by a huge margin.

If no major issues crop up, that will likely continue. It’s been pretty quiet since the bad batch of transmissions. Knock on wood.

Will always be that way, if Hugo the hot dog vendor makes 200 hot dogs in a day; and Harry the hot dog vendor makes 50 hot dogs in a day, will Harry be able to sell more hot dogs to the crowd versus Hugo with all variables the same?

Might just be time for the negative YouTube “creators” to stop loitering on Toyota dealer lots. At least hatch some new narratives for clicks. Or I don't know, maybe get a real job?

    Getting awfully quiet.
