The test were updated and are meant to be realistic. Every Fuelly driver has a different driving style. The numbers are going to be all over the place. Do you think most people that drop the big bucks for a Pro/TH care about mpg and drive accordingly. Maybe something about the personality of someone that buys a flashy truck with more hp/tq encourages driving with a heavy foot.

Working on a lien delete for my title…..

Have you experimented with your tire pressure? I run my mine at 34-35psi. Seems to help.

they are meant to be realistic, but they are not. Who averages 48mph on the freeway? nobody.

Fuelly gives you a good idea of what the average and medians are which gives you a much better idea of what range you can really expect. The sample sizes are large enough that you dont need to worry about the outliers. Most people average 18-21. Out of 1,200 fuel ups, only _50_ of them have been greater than 23 mpg. Most common fillup is 19 MPG. The EPA numbers are just wishful thinking for this truck because the tests suck.

This is why I can't trust Fuelly. One user thinks he has a 2024 with a V6, two users think they have a V4. By Fuelly's own definition L4 is an inline 4 and H4 is an inline 4 hybrid. So why is there an L4 Electric/Gas?

It’s just a place to track mpg. Most people can handle three numbers per week.

    H4 would be a flat 4 (horizontally opposed). L4 gas/electric would be a hybrid.

Yeah, I think owners select that when creating a profile, it's not fuelly's fault. It is next to useless on some cars, though.

According to that, you're both right, which makes it even worse, lol.

Don't really know what to say at this point. Didn't you bring up fuelly in the first place?

Fuelly average for OR and Sports is 19.3 vs Toyota's claim of 21 combined. The EPA test may have resulted in a 20.5 which they rounded up to 21. So the average Fuelly driver is getting 5-8% less than advertised. Not that far off.

Except the Trail Hunters. WTF? They're averaging 16.3. The EPA test has a lot of stops and starts where the electric motor is on more often so I can see that skewing their calculated numbers higher but even if the hybrid had no benefit, 500lb of dead weight shouldn't drop the mileage that much.

500 lbs of dead weight... is that like a none hybrid hauling two "avg" American men?

Trail Hunter weighs 5,360 and Land Cruiser weighs 5,445. Same engine and LC is probably less aerodynamic. Fuelly has LC getting 18.5 vs 16.3 for TH?

I would think the TH has more drag, with the lift kit, bed accessories, and bigger tires.

The LC has full time 4wd, though, which hurts its numbers.

Both are running 265/70/18. TH is 75.8" tall (w/o roof rack) and LC is 76.1", but look at the side profiles. LC windshield is more upright.
