2024 TRD Recall

I brought my truck in for the 10K oil change. There is a recall on the "Active Grille Shutter Engine Warning Light". Apparently, my truck qualified for it. They have to keep the truck for a week since there are no parts, and they said it was not safe to drive. Sounds fishy! Maybe they broke something while they were removing the sensor to inspect? They said wires were frayed.

TRD Off Road, 6 Speed Manual.

Has anyone else had this recall? Southeast Toyota.

 

There have been multiple problems with this part.

However, isn't there an option to turn this off when you start the truck?

If so then it's should not be unsafe to drive.

Did they give you a plush loaner?

 

I got a base 3rd gen tacoma, not an upgrade!

 

I’m not a fan of active shutters, I understand why they exist. The argument can be made that if they are malfunctioning the vehicle will not be able to get up to running temperature as quickly, but I’ve seen multiple Porsches where the system fails and you just prop it open and get on with your life.

I was talking about the loaner, not plush! My Taco is 4th gen and I love my manual 6 Speed!!! I want it back.

 

I feel your pain. I don’t think the consumer should be suffering because a manufacturer can’t be bothered to have parts support for a new vehicle.

This is becoming more and more common where you buy a new car or truck and the manufacturer is like, “sorry dude, we’re not gonna have any parts for weeks. Global supply chains, Sigma Sick bullshit and all.”

 

Total upgrade considering your 4G is broke and won't even work.

 

To my knowledge only 1 recall exists for the 4g. That is for the SE dealers related to an incorrect weight sticker.

The active grille shutter should have a TSB covering water in the connector causing a short. That was fixed early in the production timeline (April/May I think). But if they broke your grille shutter wiring during an oil change I would be worried about whatever tech was working on the truck haha.

 

I purchased my truck in Feb, I spoke with the service manager and the wire harness, and the grill shutter assembly had to be replaced due to water intrusion. Low on parts.

 

At least they gave you a loaner, some guys Brand New ProBro kicked the bucket and two weeks and no loaner was offered. I never buy first years
