Just picked up my new truck about a week ago and I notice a tapping noise from the engine compartment at idle and mainly when engine is cold. Was wondering if I need to take it back to the dealer and have them look at it or if what I'm hearing is a common noise?

prolly the high pressure fuel pump. normal. its located on top of valve cover. take a picture of you pointing directly at what is making the noise when its making it.

That sounds like every one of a bunch we tested - that's different trim and models. 4000 miles and months later our TRD OR sounds the same. You can go get a Land Cruiser and it will sound the same.

The A25A-FKS and T24A-FTS seem to be notoriously more clicky than their GR and TR predecessors. As others have said, likely related to high pressure fuel pump and direct injectors vs port injectors.

My wife’s RAV4 (A25A) makes quite the racket when started, then you’ll hear it click over to port injectors and it quiets down somewhat.

Sounds just like mine. The injectors are really clattery. It’s pretty typical of direct injection motors lately to clatter like that, but it’s not just you; this one seems to be louder than average. They all sound like that, though. Nothing to worry about until somebody can tell me otherwise, I guess.
