I dont feel sorry for him. As long as daddy doesn't write him out of the will he is worth billions. I feel sorry for kids who deserve a shot at F1 while he sits on his spoiled thumb and plugs up access to a seat.

At least Lance has now set a record in F1… Most Q1 exits of any driver in History, 75!
EDIT: he has also been out qualified by his teammate 103/140 times.

Anyone see why lawsons penalty was worth 10 seconds vs Max 5 seconds?

The stewards said it could have been ten seconds but took into account that it was a first lap incident.

First lap or not, I do think that taking the position of the car or driver at the time of the incident should be taking into account as well. A five second penalty I think would be fine for anyone outside of first place, but for a driver in first place with clean air to build up a five second lead with no one in front of him is not even a slap on the wrist (I really am just fully agreeing with Martin Bundle's argument here). Yes, Piastri was right behind him and it did work out overall, but with the willful ignorance of Verstappen, recognizing all of the time that he "does nothing wrong and it is always someone else's fault" (oh he pushed me off the track) a ten second penalty IMHO would deter him from making those willfully ignorant moves int he future.

    Brundle was spot-on

Max is the king of whining "that was my corner" and getting away with it. Other drivers will give the place back when they know they're in the wrong, Max never does. Should have been a 10s penalty but even that likely wouldn't stop him from moves like that.

Verstappen fans call that "champion mindset". Everyone else knows it's because he is a dick.

What they really need to do is have the pole position start on the inside of the first turn.

    Forget that

Let's have a season with them running a reverse grid but only for like 5 randomly selected races and they don't announce which they are until Quali is over

When you've followed F1 since Jackie Stewart was winning you remember that Jos, his old man, was an asshole also. So it's genetic.

Why wasn't Oscar required to give Max room in Turn 2? That was where he was run wide. Turn 1 was fine. Max rightly left Oscar room.

Because Piastri was ahead. Since "Verstappen Rule #2" was implemented a driver can't simply brake late to dive bomb into a corner either forcing a driver off the track or be able to demand that they be given space.
