This car is at the end of its life cycle. It's a question of how is next years car looking and can they convince him that one will be competitive...

    I have my doubts.

Same, and what year is the Ford engine coming? I know there are doubts about THAT as well. If he can't close the gap to McLaren by the end of the year I can't see him staying.

I really didn't think Horner was the right fall guy - yes he's in charge of everyone - but where in the engineering team is there an issue that didn't previously exist? Or did RB stand still from last season and McLaren just leap frogged them technilogically.

In the huge gaping hole where Adrian Newey used to stand. Although not in engineering, the vacuum left by Jonathan Wheatley is pretty big too.

Keep in mind though that the overall aspect that a lot of people forget is that Max is still under contract until 2028. He does have a clause that states that he can break the contract if he falls to 4th or below In the Drivers Championship before the summer break. As of right now Max (3rd) is currently at 165 and George Russell (4th) is currently at 147. Technically he currently has two races, one at Spa and the other at The Hungarian Grand Prix to " Magically do worse" than George Russell to have them switch spots so he can activate the clause.

I think it's going to be a great battle to see......... And when I say "battle" I mean between Max's ego to win versus the potential to break his contract and move. I sense tomfoolery is afoot lol.

I guess I just assumed they'd break the contract or there could be a buyout situation. It seems like anytime a Gen Z athlete is unhappy they get their way.

But your conclusion seems very well reasoned. If I was Max and I wanted out, just tank.

And don't forget the 20% cut that goes to the lawyers that negotiated the deal.

I manage large construction projects from concept to operations. It's a lot like being a team principle and the buck stops with the PM or team principle ... there is no pointing fingers at anyone else. If you are doing it right you take the hit for all failures and give credit to the team for all successes.
