Stoked to get out with you this year Larry! Let me know when you get the 3rd members ordered. I did mine over a weekend and if schedules align I would be happy to give you a hand with the swap.

Haha thanks. I don't mind a little scratch here and there but man barbed wire is where I draw the line. I tried to use some cam straps too move the barbed wire away from my tire because as I was pulling forward my tire wanted to spin right on a strand of barbed wire. Made it out though

Is there a feeling difference? I hate to say the only thing I haven't gotten used to is how trash my brakes feel in comparison to my old rig(non taco). Next alignment I get done, I'm planning on having the guys do ss lines for me.

It seems like it bites harder in the rear and the front of the truck doesn’t dive as much on emergency stops. That also that means the brake bias is not biased towards the front as much as stock. I think when I do the front 4Runner swap and add stainless lines up front to match the rear the bias may go back some. All in all I am very happy with the upgrade and knowing I won’t have the same issue with the parking brake engaging and destroying the drums is the majority of the reason for the upgrade for me.

Looks like it drove right out of 1995. That's how they used to roll back then in Cali.

My 2025 hasn't started out right (yet). After crashing my 4Runner in November, I replaced it with a GX470 that is already very well built. My bad luck is I am at 100% with the new ride; every time I have been off the pavement, something has broken.
Hit an ice patch with the front locker on and slid into a tree - pulled the bumper straight and replaced the headlight.
Ran gatekeeper on the Rubicon, then on the ride back, broke a front CV axle - replaced both axles with O'Reilly's extended travel version.
While snow wheeling and turning around on a trail that was tighter than I thought (Oh, those snow drifts are rocks?), broke the front driver-side CV axle again - lifetime warranty was honored.
I was driving an easy dirt road and lost my brakes. The metal brake line from the caliper to the spindle broke - Pretty easy fix, but was confused if it was hit by a stick or what happened?
Drove a similar road the next day and the brakes were acting up again. After inspection, noticed one of the caliper bolts that hold the caliper to the hub was missing. Before I made it back, the second bolt backed out and the metal brake line broke again. - Got it all fixed up and back on the road, just another $5 brake line and now some new bolts (I will be paint marking them and checking them often).
Went on an 18-mile dirt road loop to a lookout and down (Lakehead to Sugarloaf Peak and back) and celebrated a win of no breakage. It turns out that was premature, as I walked around the back of the truck and noticed the spare tire was missing from the swingout.

    Rough patch for sure!
But at least you're out wheeling, and your luck is bound to get better.

Yeah, that's all I can do; make sure the truck gets its quirks worked out and learn them as well. For instance, when I slid on the ice and hit a tree, it was because I had the front locker on as I was trying to figure out which locker was on.

Damn, bolts came loose on the metaltech bumper and lost your spare? I would recommend going through as much as you can and torque every bolt.

Sounds like a rough patch of learning the new rig. I have a connection for stronger CVs if you need one again. Let’s get the Bean and the Basecamp out together soon.

I agree about torquing every bolt and paint pen marking them. Also check the marks routinely.

I don’t like the MetalTech design; it just clamps the square tube with two bolts. I need to get a new MetalTech spare mount, and when I do, I’ll drill a hole for a pin to ensure it doesn’t slide out.
