I have the OEM Tube step running boards………..came with the truck, BUT wish they didn’t, only because I think the truck looks better without them……
I leveled the truck, with 1 1/2 lifts in front, and put one larger size tire, so it helps the wifey to get in……..she also has the grab handle on the pax side……so I guess they’re staying on.

I went with Trumgeta , liked the look and wanted side protection from stone chips.
    Like them a lot. 20250426_073228.jpg 20250426_073228.jpg

The newer predators seem more tucked in than my Gen3 version and still do a decent job covering the lower body. You can see below the lowest point of the drop-step is more than a foot off the ground.

I have a short wife (4'11") and short coworkers that ride shotgun occasionally. I'm 6'1" and don't need the running boards that mine came with but the passengers do.
If I had it to do over I'd put in sliders with a little bit of a dipped step OR the retractable AMP steps that hang down.

I'm actually considering the AMP's right now because the wife still struggles with the factory step and AMP makes one that drops about 2" lower.

But... If you don't need it (they get in the way for me) and your passengers don't need it - screw it. Put that money into something more fun.

From a person of short stature - i recommend the running boards. Pick your flavor, plenty out there. I have the Go Rhino Dominator D6 running boards (on my Bronze). They're nice and wide, helps keeping idiots from banging the doors on parking lots...

    OOH! Never thought about that.
I do notice that now I have removed my mudflaps the running boards do take a beating and save the paint in the process.

Yes, avoiding door dings was one the reasons I put cast aluminum running boards on the 3rd gen. Most idiots with a two door gonna hit them before they hit my sheet metal.

All the rocks pinging off the running boards when on dirt / forest service roads - instead of hitting my paint - is an added benefit.

I love the go rhino rb20 slim on mine. They sit close the truck. They do require a little more step to get into them, but I didn't care for steps that hung down too low.
