I didn't get this email. Is access still open to SanG? There's nothing on googles maps indicating a closure?

I did not see this... Damn! Well I'm going to keep my hopes up like always, but just in case start looking at alternatives. Those of you that still want to come hang and camp in Big Bear hit me up, I'll come up with a back up plan

Quoting this from the rec gov website about the campsite

"There is currently no access to or from Big Bear from Highway 38. A closure is in place from Jenks Lake East to Lakewood Drive with no ETA on reopening. The lower portion of Highway 38 is open which gives access to the campground"
Sounds like San G still stands a chance :fingerscrossed:

the highway being open doesn’t mean the campground will choose to open. The closure notice that @TXpro4X4 sounded pretty definitive

I getcha but I'm just copying off the rec gov website. No notice of closure there but who knows, maybe that site is behind.

We should make a Plan B just in case, need to see all you guys again already

I called the number on the website just now. Only got an answering machine but it listed campgrounds that were closed, Heartbar was on the list, but San G wasn't. Good sign.

I agree with having a plan b though. I just need a head count of who would be trying to come up still. I don't even know how many people were supposed to go to the main San G. So far all I know is you, @dumontrider @desertjunkie760 @Drainbung @TXpro4X4 @AY_ARONTRD and some Tundra guys
Silverwood is trashed. Its a fun place to drive through but it is horrible for camping or hanging out at. The riff raff use it like its a landfill. I've seen trash sites cleaner than that place :frusty:
You should come join us :boink:
