    He is doing well. This Saturday will be 1wk already and he has 1x more week to go before the staples can be removed. But at least he is doing well. Great appetite and drinking water so far and very happy to see this.

    By this Saturday he will have used all of his antibiotics. One of my questions to the pri vet doctor is does he need to and/or should continue with the antibiotics? I just have to wait and see...

    Unknown what caused it? The doctor at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital, which is a part of UC Davis, said it was likely an abscess that "popped". What caused it she couldn't really say as it could have been a number of reasons??? No signs of infection and when cleaned there was no significant "gunk" that was washed out. Stapled shut about 3/4 of the way with the last part to be used as a drainage that will eventually close up on its own.

    But this was the open wound I found at about 7pm last Friday night.

    Anyways, I'm just glad he is healing very well from what I can tell.

    Btw, my plan was to actually show up, but then this happened. My poor baby boy. I was worried man, that's for sure. Freaked the hell outta me when I saw it???

    I wouldn't think he needs more but im not a vet. I would think like a wound for us the meds given is what's needed. Now if the wound showed no recovery then yes I would think more would be needed after diagnosed again
