Can anyone recommend a powder coat shop or should I paint this thing myself?

You were facing an Uphill battle, though. The winner was a featured truck recently in advertising at a trade show. It’s not even really fair, haha.

I’ll take it to get it powder coated for you.
I promise to return it powder coated within a few years. It may be a little scuffed, but that wouldn’t be because I installed it on my truck.

Taco_critter is also a VERY COOL dude and is very popular in the TW community in Texas.

I'm not suprised, at all, he won. And he deserved it. I just had my reasoning for wanting to accomplish the mission I was able to accomplish.

Ok... so, we're gunna have to get some dates set up here.

    I'm thinking:
The next mod day should be 7/13 (sorry @Pella)
August Mod Day = 8/10 (ah hem... 3 days before my birthday :gossip:)

We were also looking at doing a 209 campout... I'm big time down for that.

Also... I want to do the Niagra Rim Trail + Eagle Meadow Rd (5N01) to the end as a day trip... like soon.

Can a stock taco handle those trails? If not I'll sit out :(

I’m never going on a trail (full stock, I just got it and I’m poor) until I can afford Rails, and ideally front and rear armor.

Ahh. I just picked up mine 3months ago? I've gone on some dirt roads but nothing too crazy.

My uncle who has a 2018 got peer pressured and beer brave and now has a permanent booboo on his stock Tacoma right under the passenger door. A dirt road I would do, anything rocky or angles and that’s a big ass no for me. With my luck I would tear off the Sports under chin spoiler crap and take the whole front clip with it.

You should follow Vilmontmaket on IG. People posted used Tacoma parts on the page. Most sellers are from SoCal but you'll find some Sellers up north.

The 13th should work for me. As far as camping I'm pretty open, with the exception being the end of July and early August. Sometime at the end of July I'm probably going up to Redwoods, and the drifter will be ready sometime around then, but I doubt I'd have to go pick it up on a weekend. According to my dentist who has a cabin back there 5n01 should be open july 4th weekend.

Niagra Rim I would not advise. It's a pretty legit trail from what I've heard, but has detours for all obstacles but one. 5N01 is doable stock, but was getting pretty rough last time I was out there. I would not suggest it in a 2wd, but there aren't a lot of spots where clearance is an issue, and there'll likely be winches there to help if anyone gets really stuck. There are some brushy areas although not a lot.

Stock Taco can do a lot, especially if you're running with a good group that looks out for you. The first dozen times I ran 5n01 I was stock and alone, and the worst part of that was dragging mudflaps and an occasional pinstripe. @Blue Canary went to Death Vally with us in the spring stock and got through some pretty crazy stuff with the help of spotters and rock stackers. If you are planning on off-roading in the future I'd highly suggest lift, tires, sliders, and skids as the essential big 4 mods. Bumpers and other stuff are nice but not super necessary. The hardest thing for me to get over when my truck was new was that pinstripes are going to happen, and paint wasn't always going to be perfect. I still cringe every time I hear branches dragging down the length of my truck, even though the new stripes blend in pretty well with the old ones. But yeah damage is going to happen no matter how careful you are and that's a hard pill to swallow in a new truck.

Peoples seconds come up for sale on here all the time, and you could likely build out your whole set up that way on the cheap if you're patient.
