    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Pretty good weekend all the way around.

Found a pretty nice spot at the top of a mountain.

Had a pretty nice view from our tent.

    Moon was amazing.

Found some roads that aren't even on the map.

Found a nice spot to sit back and have a snack.

Here's a look at where we camped... at the top of that mountain in the background

Came home... and I had a new pair of boots waiting for me... already treated with waterproofing/conditioner and ready for hunting season.

He charged $300 cash. He was a cool guy and pretty local being in Manteca. He has a different business that he does, I think, so you’ll have to work out when it happens.

I'm hoping to have it done by this weekend
    I still need to:
    reinstall exhaust
install driveshafts (i have both sitting in the driveway)
    refill fluids
tweak the twin-sticks a little more and cut a hole for them to come thru (in the little pen tray)

I'm having a hard time getting my bearings on that map.

I do know that the whole area up canyon of Donnell lake burned last year and the forest is still technically "closed". Although I'm sure you knew that.

I'm not sure about roads though.

Not sure why they call it Donnell Lake OHV... the whole trail is on the opposite side of 108 from Donnell. This trail runs through the Herring Creek area up to Eagle Peak.

The solid grey line above Barn Meadow is 5N01... and that purple up side down fish hook is the south/east begining of Niagra Rim Trail.

The Donnell fire line was above 5N01 so I dont think the "Donnell Lake" 4x4 OHV was effected.

Hmmm... I’d have to look at my map when I get home. The 4x4 trail to Donnell lake that I know of is called something different. Also as far as I know it was closed in 2017 and hasn’t opened back up

Just saw your comment and re looked at the map. Definitely not the same trail I was thinking of for Donnell Lake. That trail looks like one I’ve been up before. Not too difficult but 4x4 is needed.

The picture is close to Niagara Rim. Donnell Lake is on the other side of the highway and further up the mountain.

@Uphillshunter if you want Eagle Peak, I think 19EV114 is the ‘motorized vehicle trail’ that will get you closest. It’s off of 5N11Y. There are several more connecting roads to get there but it’s not that close to Donnell.

Edit. I don’t see a Donnell Lake OHV. There is a Niagara OHV in the Donnell Lake section of Stan Forrest. Niagara OHV is different from the Niagara Rim we did.

Just so we're clear. I'm not calling this the Donnell Lake OHV trail... the MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Map) is.Screenshot_20190916-145934_onX Hunt.jpg

That is 19EV114. Are you trying to get there or asking how the road is?

I see 19EV114 on GAIA... you are 100% correct, same road.

I know how to get to the road. Wondering about conditions of the trail. I'm thinking about going up there the weekend of 9/28-9/29, to get me to Eagle Peak, to hunt. But I haven't scouted any of that road.

On my map 19EV114 is represented by a black dotted line. These are what the book calls “motorized vehicle tail”. In my experience these seem to be the less maintained and more serious off road trails. Like when we did the red section of Niagara Rim, that part was also black a dotted line on the map. They are usually the only trails I think twice about being on alone, but still do it. If you aren’t alone definitely go for it. Send that shit bro.

The black dotted trails on my map are usually the fun, more technical trails. They aren’t fire roads. They have a different designation.

But none of my friends with badass trucks (that can aid in a recovery) fricken hunt

Worst case scenario, hike to cell reception and call me. Between my crawler or FJ I can get anywhere out there. As long as you have a winch, hilift and a shovel you should be fine.
