Ok... so, I'm bored at work... and my thread choices, to post in, are somewhat limited today

So let's talk FJ80 rear ends... anyone have any thoughts?

Ok... Let me be more specific... Anyone of the internet wizards that can seem to find damn near anything on FB Market, Craigs, OfferUp etc etc think they would be able to find a 93-97 FJ80 rear end, 4:10, ABS, Full Float?

    **EDIT** with a locker

I know people do it for 4Runners. I've thought about it myself - either that or a 1st gen tundra. Larger axle, stronger diffs, and full float (at least for the 80s series, not sure about the Tundra). I'll try and remember to look for some threads on a 4Runner forum and I'll post them in here. I've been looking for some on this side of the hill since picking up a DD with no luck so far.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Thanks for the input man. And if we find any info lets definately put our heads together on this. Especially if you're interested in doing this type of swap as well.

Where I'm at is I'm just trying to find out how available they are and what a realistic cost is. I made up my mind I'm going long travel in front, and I want to (somewhat) match the new track width in the back. This thing is probably going to go like my 4x swap..
It may not happen quick, but it'll happen in phases, and it will eventually be completed.

Wasn't at all productive last night so no links. But maybe @4Running Daily can shed some light on the swap. He's throwing a rear 80 series axle in right now.

LOL... what ever you find, and when ever you find it, is cool brother. I'm just in the planning stages right now, so no rush on anything.

But I'd love to pick @4Running Daily brain on this if he's doing this swap. Yours and his will be a bit different (probably more involved) being that you guys are 4 runners (coils).

I have a bit of time on my hands here at work. I'm going to try and start a little spread sheet to see if I can gather some thoughts on this and keep track of things. Kind of like I did with my 4x swap... it helped.

With a locker is going to be tough and expensive. I picked mine up in Arizona for $400 open. They're great rear ends though. Everything is stupid easy to assemble etc. Got a truss from Trail Toys that went together pretty well. Here it sits waiting for 4-Link Brackets

May be a stupid question... What would make the locker tough and expensive?

I'd be alright doing open if I could come back in and do an ARB later. My preference would be to do the locked FJ axle, but as long as there is a way to run a locker, I'd consider open.
