Ah yes, I do remember that. And I’d have similar feelings had that been me.

 

Just a recap for those that missed it.

This is the shaft from my passenger side coil over. There was no damage to any front end components other then the outer tie rod I snapped earlier in the trail. The coil itself was not bent or damaged in any way. The lower mounting cup was totally fine. The upper mounting plate also had no damage. I drove home from the Dusy at 75 MPH with no issues.

The shaft was bent from left to right. Not front to back as you'd expect if it was a hit that caused it. It couldn't have been a hit anyway because of the lack of damage to the coil.

The ONLY way this can happen to a shaft is when the shock hydro-locks. So, my coilover hydro-locked coming off a big drop and bent the shaft. King insisted it was my fault. They never offered to replace the shaft for cost. Hell, they never even offered to inspect the damaged shaft. When I rebuilt the shock the internals where in great shape. I have no idea how it hydro-locked but it did.

WTF? You'd think they'd stand by their product, and reputation, and send you a new shaft. How much could that possibly cost them? That's pretty rotten customer service.

 

Bad publicity must not matter to them.

 

I really thought they'd at least look at the shock and shaft before making a determination. Nope. The rep actually told me on the phone and I quote "Our shafts don't bend". Really dipshit? I've got one that's bent.

After that I emailed Ben over at Filthy. He got me a new shaft and rebuild kit for his cost. He second day aired them so I could get to the repair that weekend. Total cost was a little over 50 bucks. I will be doing business with Filthy again. I won't be doing business with King again.
