So I was at Shaffer’s Offroad in Alameda getting my uniballs replaced on my Kings and my SPC UCA fell apart on the rack. The ball just pulled out as we were dealing with the lower portion of the shock and moving the spindle around. I know Mike Shaffer well and he’s never seen that happen. He had some tubular Icons on hand so I could get moving again, but I leave Thursday for Death Valley and it was unnerving to think that could have happened there or going 75 mph on the highway.

I need to clean up the joint and see what happened, SPC wants me to send them in as well. Anybody ever have the ball just pop out without much force?256C23B4-6CD3-4EF2-A63D-845761DC6292.jpg5447BC93-C741-4A6B-BB9C-A2A95B8E1B4C.jpgABE485EF-3907-417A-9A87-2253C801D472.jpg7C27B8EC-F75E-43B8-AB87-BE83A17FE820.jpg

I dunno....if the ball joint wasn't pressed in fully I feel like it would have been noticeable over the course of almost 2 years?

What BMW model did this come out of? I have a 2002 e46 325i that I can get the seats from. Will those work? Direct bolt on?

For next Saturday - If I do some clearancing and cutting, you think Robert can weld some new sheet metal in place for me? Mostly, if not entirely at the firewall

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Roberts came out of a 330i. Mine came out of a 128i coupe.

They aren't bolt in. You have to fabricate brackets. It's not all that hard. Most all of the compact to mid sized BMW seats will fit.

Inside the firewall? I've got a sheet of 16 gauge we could probably use.

    ha...
No. Not really, at least. Still rub at flex. Need to properly remove the coilover and go bump to droop, etc.
4Runner hasn't moved since June. Figure I'll want to play some this fall/winter so I might as well get to addressing things.

With the solo arms, I didn't need to tub but so much since the 1" move forward. I do need to remove my washer reservoir though. And maybe, but hopefully not, pound my battery tray

LOL. Moving the caster an inch forward clears the firewall better. The other thing it does is make you contact the upper fender area much more. Stop hoping and bring a 12lb sledge with you. If you truly want to avoid rubbing you'll have to beat the shit out of it. Or you can deal with it rubbing.
