    August 14th (saturday)

So im thinking we can cruise through coral hollow pretty fast on Friday. Camp near that or near the sourgrass trailhead and run that saturday, then maybe cruise back down the mountain on sunday morning, stopping at some river spots to relax or fish or bbq some lunch and get home at a decent time.

    Deer valley and slick rock.

Slick rock is harder if you go up the new section near lake Alpine. Down would be no problem (north to south).

Deer Valley is really fun but has a couple of no bypass section that would take some time.

There are some nice camp sites just a little bit into Sourgrass. There's also that really nice spot that is usually taken up just past the first creek crossing. I might partake in this trip or meet you guys there Saturday.

Me and my buddy were actually going to Sourgrass this past sunday but decided to run Niagara instead since we tried a few months back and the gate was closed.

It is to my understanding that those two trails are the beginning of "bumper and locker" territory. Neither of which i have :(

A lot of crap and too much money spent
You will need a locker for the trail to run smoother. Bumpers, if you don't mind damage to your stock bumpers then you are good. :D

You can do the trail without a locker but there will be a lot of rock stacking. Which will add to the time to get through the trail. If you go the direction Ndub mentioned where you are going down the massive rock hill which I have not been up or down since our group had a truck without a locker and we were going up not down. So we turned around and went back through the trail again.

Slick rock is fun but it was a little nerve racking for me since I wasn't used to slamming down on a rock and the loud banging noise. Take shit slow this was my bad on my part and inexperience. You have to trust in the skids you have on the truck that is for sure.

Im ok with boo-boos and owies but... i told most of the guys last weekend "I dont want to have my bumper zip tied on for 2 years until i can afford a new bumper" lol

So ill probably sit any slickrock (or harder) shenanagins out, my time will come soon.

As you get closer into Sonora Pass area the signs posted were permit fire okay. Did a double check too but it could be different now. Heading up into the Mts via 120 it does have posted restrictions. It was way to windy for us to have a fire but fingers crossed for your better luck. Fish were bighting stupid big kastmasters too.

I could not believe that place wasnt fished out. I saw alot of people, alot of people fishing... and theres not alot of places for fish to hide in that lake.
I guess its all seasonal and what has made it upstream to that final spawning place, so maybe they just keep coming lol

I only brought my fly rod with me and we were only there for maybe 30-40 minutes as we ate lunch and took some pics so i didnt fish at all. Plenty of fish on stringers tho.

    whoops!

    I meant...

no fish in that lake, none. probably a waste of time.

Gotcha. I’ve ran Slickrock numerous times but never in my Tacoma. I think I could make it as I’ve seen way less capable vehicles on 31’s no lockers do it but I don’t want my bumper zip tied on either and I do think thats likely to happen. No lockers=more gas pedal=likelihood of breakage moves up. I will say the first time I ran it I was told there was no way I would make it thru with no damage, they were wrong. Also the first time I saw the rock hill I thought it was the end of the trail and said “fuck no I’m not going up that”. Then I went up it a hour later and back down and back up etc at least 10 times. If you haven’t been already any Saturday you can go check out all the rigs playing and judge it for yourself(easy drive to obstacle from the spicer side). Also just giving you a hard time don’t destroy your vehicle on anybody’s account but your own
