I wouldn’t mind a slickrock rematch. I had to use my winch last time.

Yeah it was a weekend day and there was about thirty people milling around watching. I don’t do well in this kinds of situations. My dad winched right before me and after I spent maybe 15 minutes on the obstacle I just winched.
There was probably five vehicles behind me and maybe the same trying to come the opposite way.

This was on the new section. Where there aren’t any bypasses.

 

Oh and it started raining on us.

 

Makin me nervous now. Lifted Jeep on 37 inch (IIRC) Patagonias... here I'm looking at running it with IFS and my baby 285s.

 

Nah it’ll be fine. If you go down the obstacle it’s really easy.

We just happen to get there late in the day and everything was moved around in that chalk like dust. One of the holes swallowed my brothers 40” tire. He ended up making it but used a lot more skinny pedal than I like to use. That’s why I want to try it again. I know I can do it but just got impatient.

Plus full width suck on that part. You’ll be able to squeeze by the rock I was having issues with.

I'm talking with 4x4 In Motion, to see if they have any insight in to when Niagara Rim Trail is going to open.

They may be planning a trail clearing and season opener for NRT. I told them to hit me up as soon as they have details. Would anyone else be interested?

FWIW, it is sounding like Forest Service may recend the Forest Order closing 5N01 through May 31. Roads are clearing, and snow is melting quickly. NRT -MIGHT- be open prior to Memorial Day weekend.

 

I may be interested in another trip to Niagara Rim. Since last year I have added full skids, a suspension upgrade with 6112s and 5160s and replaced the stock tires with 256/75R16 Duratracs so my truck is more capable than it was last year. Still want to do Eagle Peak as well but that is up higher and might not open as soon as 5N01.

The 5N01 Niagara Rim area was showing mostly clear on the snow depth map, but after the most recent storm this last weekend it now shows 3.9-9.8 inches of snow all in the area of Niagara Rim trail so I'm not sure how soon that will melt.
