ok, I need to pull my drivers side axle because the o ring is toast. do I need to disconnect the ebrake line connected to the back of the hub? seems like I need to disconnect it since I get to a certain point and can't go any further.

I called it quits today since one of the studs in the pumpkin came out when I was trying to back a nut off. Looks like the threads are hosed. :annoyed: going to order a new one from Toyota tomorrow.

Yeah, it’s coming along. Just waiting on parts and day light. I’ll do a little every night after work.
I replaced the axle o ring today and will fix the missing stud on the pumpkin tomorrow. Then on to replace the rear brake shoes.

Yeah, I pulled the drum off on the driver side and they were pretty thin.

I replaced my pads in the front last summer. So should be good all around after these are changed out.

You want to hear something crazy? I just popped my rear drum off, just because I was curious... Rear brake shoes still have probably 3/16 in of wear left on them, no grooves in the drum, around the wheel cylinder was dry as a bone, and no evidence of an axle seal leak... that's with 265,000+ miles.

I'm second owner (it was a lease return) I've had the truck over 14 years (over 200,000 of those were mine), and have never done the rear brakes

I'm sure these are the original shoes (141,000 miles) and honestly I could get away with putting them back on. but I figured i'm pulling it apart to replace the o-ring might as well replace the shoes while i'm at it.

Got to a point where I could mock up the RTT rack to get angles and measurements.

    Got all the legs cut.

Nice, I need to learn how to weld. I want to get some limiting straps put on the front.
Also I have a trailer project that needs a rack for my tent.

Btw, Matt good taste in color choice of the truck. :D
