    Inquiring minds want to know.

This is a rather cynical look at auto manufacturing. It's actually more complicated than this. Truth be told, engine life has nothing but get longer as time goes on. Used to be engines really would only last 100K. Today, most any reputable manufacturer's engine will last 250K if you take care of it. You don't even have to do it as well as the manual says. My last two vehicles had 220K and 251K on the clock when I sold them..... and they were still running fine. Then, I changed oil every 5K.

I've done the last couple of oil changes on my Taco at 10K mile intervals. I had the results tested (see signature), both times Blackstone suggested I try 12K intervals. After I'm out of the warranty period, I might just do that.

i drive mainly Hwy. I figure a happy medium of 7,500k mile oil changes on my 2016 Taco give me piece of mind. Nothing but Mobil 1 for my truck and Honda Atv which is 15 years old and had the piss ran out of it. 0 problems with it. I trust Mobil 1

While everyone fighting about milege intervals I have a question about timeline. Its a pain to change oil on my wife's Benz and she rarely drive it! About 5k a year maybe how long will be the max you all would go before changing! Manufacture recommend 10k 6month and I rather do it at a year at a minimum!

Oil just sitting and not running will just sit there and absorb moisture from the atmosphere. This moisture will increase the Total Acid Number in the oil and create issues with the oil doing it's job. The only way to know is to do it, and test it. Let the results tell you what to do. I kind of doubt you will have any real issue, but I can't say that without testing the oil. The oil manufacturers put a 6 month number there, but the number has to be conservative to CYA.

Per my previous post, the engine may not be heating the oil enough and cooking out the moisture which will increase the TAN (total acid number).

Just to add, some of my turbines have oil in the lube oil reservoirs that are over a decade old, but it's a different grade, it's constantly running (and cooking the moisture out), it's sealed, has a vacuum pulled on it, is tested monthly, and we sweeten it when needed.

Works great for me, Tacomas usually build equity at the end. I haul stuff but have a bed mat so no abuse or scratches. Only drive about 7500 miles a year, so works great for me. Covers all my oil changes I need, and don't ever worry about tires or brakes.

    OME and worth every penny.
if I drove a lot of hwy miles still, (well, I'd drive a hybrid but anyway) I'd trust it. For as little as i drive the old truck now though I'll stick with every 3333 miles.
That's how I keep track, 3 times for each 10K miles. It takes me at least 2 yrs. to do that nowadays. I use cheap oil.

OP was like, I'm just going to leave this here and grab some . For me I'll still go every 5K mainly due to my job and where I run the truck, unfortunately that works out to around 6 oil changes a year. Even Toyota in the service manual recommends 5K for me.
