Was at the dealership today getting the 20K service.

When it was finished I asked the service dude about the fuel pump recall, or what ever it is they can't fix. He told me they had 2 cars in the back lot for the past 4 months waiting to get fixed.

Told him I was going on a 2K+ mile road trip in the next couple weeks. He told me to be on the safe side, they would give me a new car to drive on my trip. Said to just bring my truck up a couple days before and take a new car...said it might not be a Tacoma. Told him I didn't care as long as it wasn't a micro size car.

Also told him I wasn't too keen on leaving my truck in their lot for a couple weeks. He said to drive up and show my license and insurance info and they would have someone bring me a new ride, and I could keep my truck in my garage. Not bad service, and I can keep the miles down on my truck.

They had some eye candy in the showroom to look at too. Told me it was a 1977, it was totally flawless.

Tell the dealer you want one of those cruisers as a loaner, no exeptions. Take your mask off, beat on the counter, they might do it.

New LC's are coming and will be much more affordable and offroad oriented... so I've heard. Maybe those are in showroom as a harbinger of things to come?

Had a change in plan on my trip.

Called the service dude that told me about getting a loaner car for my trip, and told him I'd not be leaving till the first week in October. He said to let him talk to the loaner car people and he'd call me back in 5.

Called me back and he said on the 28th of this month they would send a shuttle to pick me up to bring me to the lot for my loaner. I asked him when I had to bring it back, and he said I can keep it until they have a fix for the fuel pump or what ever it is. Even thou my truck has shown no issues.

Asked him what car I'd get...2020 dark blue 4 Runner. I can dig the shit out of that.

    Is all this normal?

My new ride till my dealership gets the parts for the fuel pump recall. Even thou my truck never had any problems.

Damn thing is too nice, 4x4, leather, and a sunroof. Also has the power heated seats, and some kinda Apple shit everyone is so crazy about.

I spent a few hours Saturday detailing my truck and pulled it in the garage, and put a Battery Tender on it. Will stay there as long as I have the 4 Runner.

I would assume they would have to sell all these fuel pump recall loaners as used?
