A couple weeks ago I went to the dealer to get some new wiper blades. When I asked for part number Toyota 85212-YZZ03 TM (complete wiper assembly, I paid $23 for 2 in 2012) or B425 (just the insert, I paid $7.33 for 2 in 2010), the man quoted me around $21 EACH, and he told me that he didn't have those part numbers in his book.

I looked at them and they look to be made of plastic instead of whatever metal is on the truck now.

Was the parts guy right? In my book $21 for one wiper blade is nothing but a ripoff. :angrygirl:

Just like everything else for sale at the dealership parts department....way overpriced. Sometimes it's worth it sometimes it makes more sense to just buy aftermarket at the auto parts store.

I will say though, with some cheap wipers you really do get what you pay for. But I wouldn't buy Toyota ones, for half that cost you can get decent ones from the store.

NEVER get air filters or wipers or things of that nature at the dealership. Ever seen how much they mark it up? They are tacking on almost double of what it cost them. Easy profit. Easy sell when people come in and "oh - by the way - you need new windshield wipers. Want us to take care of that for you?" haha a sucker is born every day!

Bosch microedege. $11 each or so and I get a good year at least out of them. Even do fine in Hurricane season.

I understand wanting to stay OEM as much as possible but...down to the wipers is just taking it too far lol

I only buy Toyota cabin air fresheners

On that note though...there is a distinct smell that Toyotas have especially when new, if they made that scent in air fresheners I would totally buy it.

I remember when I bought my 04 a few years ago it was still so low mileage that it had that smell, I f'ing loved it. Definitely not there anymore though

You get wiper blades from the dealer?!

It's been at least a decade, probably 2, since I've been able to find just the rubber inserts at parts stores. They all just sell the click-in blade assembly now. If you're just now discovering this, you probably need to replace your wipers a little more often than every 7-9 years...

That said, that doesn't seem too far off from what I've paid at Autozone or other parts stores for the RainX or Bosch ones. They usually average about $20 a piece (more for the "high end" ones), which doesn't seem that bad unless you're buying for 3 vehicles, lol.
