We do our best to be "perfect". But we don't work on toyotas. Someone is always going to be pissed off about something, you can't change that.

Hey if you can use a computer which I know you can because you are on TacomaWorld then you can also go to eBay or Amazon or somewhere and look up an ATEQ TPM quickset tool, if you know your sensor id's it will save you a fortune. I love mine and its easy to use. I think there is a thing on YouTube on how to use one so just look up ATEQ on YouTube also and see just how easy it is to do yourself you'll be glad you did

You got taken! Why would you have to reprogram a sensor that is already being used on the vehicle. Swapping a sensor from one rim to another doesnt cause it to loose its programming.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
He switched from steel to alloy rims. He had to get a new set of sensors because the steel rim sensors don't fit on alloy rims. Thus the need to program the new sensors to the truck.

but isn't that tool about $149, granted you can reprogram to your hearts desire after you get it and it works on multiple vehicles/brands.

Yeah that's what I gave for it but for me I own multiple vehicles and I trade frequently so for me it's worth it

^^^ That.. now I feel better my Stealership only charged me $120 ... thought that was a ripoff. Tell the dealer to stick the TPMS up their ass and go to another dealer.

As others have mentioned, don't go to a dealer at all. Go to a tire shop. Discount/America's Tire or similar.

When I swapped wheels (including sensors) on my Subaru my local Costco reprogrammed my car for the new sensors for free and it took no time at all.

I went to Firestone and they have no idea what I was talking about. Tire Kingdom only went to 2013, same as Costco.

Think I'll buy the thing to do it myself and then see if I can sell it and recoup some of the cash.

Exactly why when I put new wheels on it made one of these for $12. I went from steel wheels to alloys.

sold the steelies with TPSM and and I like know if a tire is running lower. Costco would install the BFG 265/70/17s, but wouldn't reuse the steel TPMS, because of the 'backward' required and said the threading, even on the steel TPMS, didn't give enough rooms for barely a 3/4 turn on the rims I have.

Its a piece of PVC Pipe with a valve stem and you put your tpms sensors inside it and fill it up with 30 lbs of air and throw it under the back seat or in the rear storage compartment and it makes the truck think that there is air in the tires cause it's got a reading from inside the tube and the light goes off on the dash!

That's known as a TPMS bomb. TPMS sensors sealed in a PVC pipe with a valve stem on the end, then pressurized to proper tire inflation pressure. Store somewhere in vehicle. Of course you could have a low tire and your truck TPMS doesn't know!!

I always check my tire pressure weekly so that's no big deal!

I'll have to look into this as I have 2 sets of rims (winter/summer) and certainly don;t want to pay the $$$ each time to have the sensors re calibrated.
