Truck was rear ended hard a couple of weeks ago, (I posted pics in another thread). Looks like it's going to be a few more days before I can get it in the shop.

Part of the bumper was hanging by the sensor wires, some of which were partially pulled out of the connectors. Everything seemed normal. I cut the wires to get the dangling piece off. Now I get a "Collision System Faliure" message and the damn fan / AC doesn't work. Is there any way to get some AC until I can get it to the shop?

I'd leave it, so your work isn't blamed for the reason of failure. It's kind of strange the A/C would quit since you were hit in the rear,, but with a hard enough hit, anything can go wrong.

Maybe wire nut the wires back together and zip tie it up.
Since this isn't going to be warranty work, I wouldn't worry too much about getting blamed for anything.

Also, I'd be surprised to see a correlation between this and your AC.
If you've got 5 minutes, check the associated fuses for the hell of it..

Thanks for the replies. Just got back from the shop for the assessment. Going to be 2 weeks before they can start the job. He said to strip the wires and try connecting them in different combinations or try getting the sensors out of the bumper and reconnecting each wire. He also told me of weird shit on other vehicles. It's getting hot in S. Ga.!

Check your IG1-2 fuse. The BSM is on the same circuit as the AC. Make sure you don't have a short and replace the fuse if blown. That may fix it.

No blown fuses. Mechanic buddy told me that they do that to get you to go to the dealer to get it fixed, (lawsuits and such). He also told me of newer Fords that won't start when the tail lights short out... Thankfully it didn't happen in August..... I might try to reconnect the wires today. At least we're having a week or 2 of cooler weather....

The CAN bus is at the BCM connectors too. If those shorted out that could effect other modules on the same routing. I would follow the rear BCM harness to the next junction and disconnect at that point and see what then works and doesn’t. Protect the disconnected connector from the elements.
