In person, in writing guarantees supercede information available from third parties. The corporate Toyota website is a third party in this situation.

What is charged for x doesn't matter when y is claimed to be delivered.

If I advertise I'm selling a V6 Tacoma and deliver an I4, even if the price is representative of an I4, I'm committing fraud. Full stop.

Obfuscation, at the point of sale (dealership) the buyer has no idea or reason to believe that the description is incorrect.

Perhaps, I'm not an expert on corporate or contract law. However, Toyota corporate builds the trucks and provides the window stickers and documentation that goes with them to the dealerships.

Why can't this be attributed to a completely honest mistake and everyone just go about their day? No matter what the OP did or wanted he could not have a manual transmission and the JBL system. It's not as if the OP was charged for something that was not delivered.

He was promised something that was not delivered.

Honest mistakes are OK, however they must be compensated. You get what you were told you were buying, or you get your money back (or a reasonable and mutually acceptable amount of compensation.)

    Fact, actually, not obfuscation.

This is a fun way to sit around and drink beer though. OP is going to have a good laugh when he gets back and reads through this mess.

That price should be taken to small claims court for the oem haha! the audio system you could buy for $3400 would roast the oem setup .

The printout lists his specific VIN. It also lists the M/T.

You “the poster is always wrong” guys are a riot.

Generic may have been a poor choice of wording. It’s just a list, not something someone physically went through and verified was installed in the truck before hitting print.

Yes but when compared to every other Toyota source that combination is impossible. JBL couldn’t be on his truck regardless of what the paper says.

Irrelevant-it’s Toyotas mistake that they have in the sticker what the buyer was getting but did not. It’s called false advertisement, regardless of intent.

I feel that there’s some borderline malicious Toyota bootlicking going on in this thread… But, also, I forget that most of the time stupidity is misattributed as malice.

Not fraud unless there was malicious intent.

I feel ya, but the court would probably instead call it some variation of a mistake, maybe even negligence, before false advertisement (also requires malicious intent).
