So, even though it states 6 speed manual in the description, if you run the VIN on the window sticker the OP provided, it comes back at a 6 speed AUTO. There's your problem lady!

If the sticker came from the manufacturer then the manufacturer can be sued as they are the one who falsely advertised. Just like Hyundai getting sued for false window sticker advertising. which they did.

This…⬆️ If and when you wanted to upgrade Tacomas anemic and dated entertainment system, it’s easier and less expensive to start from the Non-JBL version. Hopefully OP can get things worked out, and we can all learn something .

Of course! It is easy to sit back and condemn others when it isn't your money. :D Mine was a little bit different. My truck was used and the dealer tried to screw me. They told me my truck hadn't been in an accident. When I found they were wrong they told me that it wasn't in writing so they wouldn't do anything. They had listed my truck with alloy wheels. I knew it had steel wheels. When they took the "not in writing" stance on the accident, I jumped in with the wheels. It clearly stated alloy wheels and I had that in writing. Of course they put up an argument, but at that point I had them. Much like this guy, I used the position that since it was listed on the sticker, that they based their selling price on that fact.

The plot thickens. OP does your truck’s vin even match the vin on the sticker?

These are my favourite TW threads. New poster asks a question, responds to a few questions, cluster fuck ensues and the OP never is heard from again.

Classic. Will probably turn into a bullshitting thread and hit 100+ pages.

The OP kinda distracted and confused everyone by mentioning 'class action' even though this seems like a relatively unique situation. It's really easy to forgive people that don't have the legal expertise of a highly educated and trained attorney.

But as a really new convert to Toyota (and loving my truck!) I've been flabbergasted to see all the TW fanboys who are seemingly so desperate and chomping at the bit to pile on the OP and expect that he should just totally submit, grovel, bow down and kiss the big ring of the 1000lb gorilla that just got one over on him, potentially to the tune of thousands of dollars!

If the shoe was on the other foot, somehow I think the TW fanboys would be in the same position as the OP, wanting to be made whole due to a mistake that was in no way shape or form his fault.

The false advertising of a Monroney listing equipment that was not installed is surely an open and shut case. If Toyota or the dealer doesn't bend over backwards to make him whole asap, he could have a case on his hands that would result in total default by Toyota and the dealer.

Caveat vendor: don't put stuff on the Monroney that's not on the car! What is so difficult to understand about this?

This already happened it 2018?? and again in 2022???

This is wild. Sounds like $700 is Toyota's way out without litigation, wonder if the OP even got that offer... :pccoffee:

$700 would cover the cost of a decent powered sub and install, sounds like a reasonable solution.
LMAO at y'all busting the OP's balls over misusing the term class action while giving 'Yota a pass for a misprint on the Monroney sticker.

Not a pass; just pissing in the wind...
A Monroney violation is a $1,000 Federal fine...no one's going to give a shit. Anything he gets, will be at Toyota's discretion. Throwing around 'class action' this early doesn't help.

No money, all went to truck...
Yup. Maybe he's busy gathering up the thousands of people with the same issue needed for a class action lawsuit. Might take a while...
