From my initial search the 17201-F0010 turbocharger assembly fits both SR and SR5+ trims.

Wasn't expecting a lot, but even then I wasn't impressed. I guess that's why it has. 3500 pound tow rating.

The lower tow rating is probably because it's missing the additional cooler, also the suspension is different: leaf VS coils.

I have had a tuned 2016 GTI, Q60 and my previous Titan had a tune.

The tuning industry has said that the Toyota ECU software is ridiculously complex to crack. The 90's Supra required a stand-alone ECU because it was so difficult to reprogram.

Supposedly, modern Toyota vehicles use 3D mapping. This makes it extremely difficult to tune. Last time I looked into it, there were efforts to tune the Lexus 4 cylinder turbo, and nothing significant came of that.

For some reason, Ford, Nissan, VW, Audi, BMW and Nissan have easily modified ECU.

It sounds like you want the higher output motor. Buy that.

Unless you are buying the SR Manual, just pay the extra $2K for an SR5. It doesn't make sense to buy an SR automatic with lower HP, much lower tow rating, and the huge hit you will take on resale.

The HiLux has a 3500 KG = 7700 lb towing capacity. People who work for a living would never accept this California poser mobile.

I drive a double cab 4x4 hilux, honestly don’t know the towing capacity, but it’s the 2.7 gas engine, aint no way it’s towing 7700 lol, but maybe it’s rated for it.

$38k+ for a 4x4 XtraCab might not be to much excitement for that.

I did see a Rwd XC in PA listed a little above $30k. Rwd XC vs a Fwd Maverick, the Tacoma is BOF and both vehicles have a composite bed, Maverick wins on interior space and seating.

I can't see the Hilux getting a composite bed, in most markets, maybe the UK or other urban markets.
