Nice as that truck looks, i wouldnt do more than $10k. Even 18 year old Toyotas will need work.

Yeah the suckers whom are buying new vehicles off the lot and losing as soon as they leave with it lol. Something is special about them if everyone wants one. If he’s looking for a 1st gen I’m sure that’s what he wants. This is no different than a Supra,rx7,z’s,excursion,4runners,fj’s, gx’s or any other 90-00’s vehicles that are holding value or on the rise.

    Points to Ponder:
Maybe not the most sought after machine ever, but Tacoma's are indeed special enough to have a whole "WORLD" of followers that are raising the price tags on these as we speak!
The "question" will have a different answer depending on who is typing, there is no right or wrong.
We all ultimately decide where to spend our own dollars, if you are happy it doesn't really matter if someone else doesn't get it or thinks you are a "sucker".
Conversely there will be others that would be excited to see you have something they have never seen before.
The feeling you get in certain unique vehicles can easily surpass the price tag paid as you drive down the road or trail.
There has been nothing made for decades like a first gen Tacoma, especially double cabs, and the Limited is the rarest.
It is most likely these will hold their value and even increase in value over time as we already see with these and all clean Toyota 4x4's decades old, where a newer vehicle will be depreciating for some time.
You can debate your own preferences and experience, but it wont make these cheaper and more abundant for those that wish to own one of these.
It may be more helpful if forum members can find a dbl cab Limited 4x4 in black for cheaper, than to simply say this one is too costly and pass it up without taking a closer look first.

    Me:
I would gladly pay extra for a super clean Limited if this was the truck "I" wanted and I could not find one cheaper and/or cleaner, simple huh?! Approval from the masses will never happen, as these trucks are simply not for everyone and markets vary with time and locations. But I would certainly need to see it in person to make the call, not just photos or speaking to folks online about what they would do... if YOU dont LOVE the 1st gen Limited dont waste your time searching for a super clean nice one, move on and put your dollars elsewhere.

    Summary:
We can look at this thread 5 years from now and try shopping for a clean Limited and see how "CHEAP" they are and find out who predicts the future correctly, but no one ever shops for cars like that! It is way funner for the enthusiast to live their own 4 wheeled dreams, and happily paying the price of admission to do so.
You can always come across a couple thousand more bucks and you are going to put more money into any vehicle over time anyhow, but you cant make your vintage dream truck appear in front of you for super cheap at anytime when you wish to pick one up.

If YOU want one, get a nice one IF you can!!

So what is most important to you OP? Do you love the Limited rarity factor, the nifty seats, the double cab, the black paint or? Are you willing to wait until you find the cleanest example of the exact model you are looking for on the cheap or would you prefer to find a nice truck and hit the trails, start modding, etc?

Not just Toyota, have you seen the prices recently for a mid 70's 80's Chevy pick-up lately ?? Doesn't even have to be 4-wheel drive.

Like I said. At that point you’re a collector. You’re parking a vehicle or not using it for a few decades.

    Update TW family:
After weeks of patiently waiting and checking online daily, the price came down significantly and I pulled trigger... This is going to be my 1st 4x4 and I can’t wait to try it out...

Congratulations! I really like 1st & 2nd Gen Tacoma trucks. If I had the money and space I get another Tacoma 1st or 2nd Gen. Here's some mod ideas of a Tacoma that I think looks pretty good. It's a 2nd Gen but I think the TRD gray mate wheels would look good on your new truck.

Thats definitely a bit high but car prices are through the roof in the last few months on some cars. Been looking for a fun project... 2000 civic si's are going for $25k, 1990 crxs 8k plus, 2000 integra type r's are over 40k.

Some.corevettes are up 10k in the last few months.

Very true...can get them to weigh 1500lbs. Nicest ones you can find are straight from Japan and they want 12k for them. Pretty sure they were like 8k new.

well if the service history is spot on, and it's as clean as it looks, with 167k miles, this baby should last you a lifetime. Congrats on the new ride. I'd keep this one stock, just for the "Collector" value.
