The fact it's designed for a non US market and will never be sold in the US because of the chicken tax?

the fact you could grab a stick with your left hand instead of your right for once? Some Ranger Stranger action?

Ah yeah. Nothing like driving a right hand drive stick in traffic the first day you fly into country.

Wonder if that is the same 7 speed MT found in the Bronco.

Looks like a 6spd minus the crawl gear. It is nice to see, but doubt the US market gets a stick, or a diesel.

I agree…..but that’s always been the mantra here anytime Ford threatens a new ranger. Somebody will post a YouTube video, unusually from TFL titled “Ranger killer”

Everything new that comes out is always labeled a Tacoma Killer, the latest Renault/Nissan Frontier is a good example.

Looks like rivel for the Santa Cruz from Hyundai or vice versa at least that's what the Hyundai people say. I have a Kona AWD for the wife. She likes small cars, used to have Corollas but the last one we had was in 04. The transmission issues in that were a nightmare 4 in 2yrs and 21000 miles lemon law got us our first taco. It was an 02.

A couple guys were complaining about off topic on 3rd gen's I seen an article on a possible diesel made available in the US in 24 but up in the air it was discussing the elimination of either the Tacoma or Hilux and making 1 model for the world to save money. It was a little fuzzy about the power train as it discussed EV as well.

Lots of things to address there.
Coal powered EV. The only reason I can see someone caring about the source of electricity is bacause of CO2 emissions. Long story short, with coal being the worst way to get power in terms of CO2, after 80k miles there is a net loss in CO2 produced. This includes the manufacturing of the vehicle and batteries.

Cold climate and decreased range. Engineering explained did a video on this where he drives 2000 miles across Canada in the middle of winter to see how battery performance suffers. If my memory is correct, his model 3 went from 358 miles of range down to 305 (15%). The cold weather performance has largely gotten better because they use heat pumps instead of resistance heating.

Electric Planes. I don't know much about the topic but I think the battery weight would be more problematic than the -50F temperature. Roles Royce did just set a new EV speed record of 387mph. So industry is working on it.

Perpetual Motion machine. EVs already use power regeneration when you're slowing down. Tesla's almost don't need brake calipers at all. It's not a perpetual motion machine but city driving is very efficient.

My biggest complaint is preparing for super charging. Level 3 chargers put out 250 KW. This is really hard on the batteries if they are cold. Prior to arriving at a super charger, it heats the batteries using the heat pump. On the bright side, charging is usually 20min or less. If I got to Wawa and grab coffee and a sandwich, it's usually done by the time i pay.

    They do use regeneration already.

The Ranger that has been shown will be the "overseas" version. But the US built Ranger and the overseas Ranger will be built on the same platform. The Bronco is already being built on that platform.

Maybe I'm ignorant to it (which is possible) but what does chicken tax have to do with the US built Ranger? North America won't see the diesel, likely won't see the manual, but that doesn't have to do with the chicken tax.

Then that would be a perpetual motion machine, how in the hell will power companies make money if the vehicle generates its own!? :p:D
