Bought a cpo Tacoma 2023 Tacoma sr with the stock wheels and tires and notice a pretty obvious vibration when slowing down once I get to around 30mph and below. It does not happen when accelerating or when slowing down at higher speeds. It makes the steering wheel vibrate, seat shake, and I can hear some plastics rattle. Is this normal?

Nope, not normal. Take it to the dealer since you paid extra for the CPO. Wheel alignment or brakes/rotors would be my guess. How many miles?

    Yes. Thats Normal :) Kidding.
You probably should have your dealer look at it anyways.

Does it go away in 4wd?

The previous owner may have hit a curb at speed. They could've had the truck aligned for different wheels (and put the old wheels back on to sell it). Most likely this is a front-end tire, wheel or suspension issue. No one can tell you 100% what it is with the limited info.. possibly not even with a video. Take it to the dealer.

It only happens when deceleration happens around 30mph and below. Does not seem to be rpm related

My 2023 did this. Turned out to be warped drum brakes. It came from the factory like that. The dealer resurfaced them, much smoother now. You can check this by using only the parking brake to slow the truck. If it's the drums you will feel in the seat and the bed should vibrate. My steering wheel did not vibrate thou so you may have more than one issue.

If the vibration you are feeling feels like your are driving over a rumble strip during deceleration , there is a TSB for that , throw the truck in neutral next time you are coming to a stop and see if it goes away , if it does , this very well could be your problem , it’s well documented here on TW . I’m not sure if the 23s qualify for the TSB but they probably have included it by now .

Mine is a 23 and I had the TSB done. They replaced the leaf springs and put a shim in the steering wheel. It did not correct the problem. Turned out to be warped drums and defective torque converter.

It could be a host of things that could either be due to a defect or normal to the way this transmission shifts. Toyota Aisen transmissions are notorious for hard shifts, both up and down.

When I had my 2022 sr5 I had the exact problem. Toyota has a tsb out to replace the leaf springs which change the driveline angle and they add a steering wheel damper behind the air bag.
