I got a sticker and some cool valve stem caps...
I'm ready to place an order and just want to make sure I get the rights harness, to save us both headache.

I'm 98% sure I need the TRD halogen headlight harness for grille lights. My headlights are halogen (low beam is h11) but my DRL are factory LED (the L shape on the outer lower portion).

Is just the normal halogen harness the one I need for raptor lights?

Your OffRoad is a "TRD" trim so yes, my harness will work for you. And the integrated "with grille lights" is precisely what I use myself for raptor lights because I'm one of those faux pro grille with fake ford raptor lights like everyone else Tacoma owners. :)

    Thanks Ordered

No slight ment by "raptor lights". I'm new to the tacoma world and that's what most places sell them as. But yes, I'm looking at faux grilles too.

It’s how I roll. Lots of guys really hate on them for whatever reason. I like the look myself. Pro grille for $60 is way better than the cheese grater I once had and the $20 amber lights just make it look balanced with the bright white DRL’s. Meanwhile I don’t like DRL in the mirrors as it feels too confusing for the average driver given those typically indicate turns. So I’m chock full of idiosyncracy right there.

Sometimes we jokingly call them rapture lights.

People indicate when they turn out there? Huh, what a thing. :D

I love the amber grille lights. It reminds me of building trucks with my dad in the 80's. Always had the running lights on the cab. (Midwest farm boy). Just seems like a modern twist on the classic.

Plus, I'm admittedly a Ford man. Got a 19 Mustang GT in the garage. But... Tacoma is a better truck than the Ranger and infinitely more usable, and more affordable, than a Bronco.. I still feel some sort of way about a 4cyl turbo in a truck too.

The video looks to me to be showing the installation of an r4t harness? Which is what I used myself at first, before converting to OEM LED, at which point I switched to an integrated conversion harness.

Sorry to bump an old thread but figure it’s better than opening a new one.

So I’m looking at picking up this harness for my truck just wondering where to plug this into for power ? Is this plugged into the low beam/high beam or drl ? Didn’t see this answered other then the video above, but I know it’s not your harness so didn’t know if you did it differently?

You’re asking about the r4t grille light harness?

If so, all it does is send DRL or parking lights to the grille lights using diodes. Which is the same thing my integrated OEM LED conversion harness with grille lights does. There is no external power source for the grille lights since they are a low power device. I believe I measured mine at 100 mA or something similar to that?

The only difference with my integrated conversion harness vs the r4t and any non integrated conversation harness is the lack of bulk and extra connectors. But, I do a modular diode module vs the r4t which has diodes inline, hence the delta of bulky connectors isn’t a significant difference. My approach is a bit more modular, allowing for backlight, MESO v5’s and grille lights all off a standard feed vs daisy chaining DRL connectors to achieve that.

    Functionally it’s all the same.

Oh nice yea I’ve seen your work it’s very well put together. I edited my last post to add to it not sure if u seen it. I suck at wording lol what’s your harness plug into? Sorry for the stupid questions I’m just trying to get the answers now, before I order so I know what I’m doing before hand.

This is effectively the r4t only "bulkier" due to the common/modular design of the diode modules I use.

For connecting grille lights, see this.
