Hey all! Just picked up a new `23 TRD sport coming from a `20 f150. I only have 400 miles on the Tacoma now and noticed that going highway speeds(60-70mh) at exactly 2.1k-2.3k rpm there is loud droning coming from the engine. So much so that I can feel vibrations in the pedal and steering. Going at lower or higher rpms does not replicate this behavior - only 2.1k-2.3k rpm. It does not bother me knowing that its a naturally aspirated engine but wanted to make sure there is nothing wrong and this is expected behavior for the engine.

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds about out normal. You'll get use to it Transmission it learning your driving habits. Give it sometime. Your in a 6 speed, alot different then that 10 speed you had.

Baby it until 621 miles then start driving it like it should be driven. I changed the oil at 1000 miles

So far…. Added fog lights swapped halogens to led’s, interior lights to led’s, bed lights added, led/strobe brake lights, trying to figure out the right leds for turn signals.
Seems these transmissions are really picky until 12-1500 miles, mine does the same thing but is starting to level out

i'd have a hard time accepting a loud droning from the engine and vibrations in the pedal and steering are normal in a new truck. if that's the case, these trucks are unique, among other things.

maybe i missed it in the OP's post but how did you determine the transmission is auto and not MT?

While not as refined as an F150 any sort of vibration at speed is not normal.
