2 seconds earlier or later and we would have just passed each other. I was looking for a restaurant I was supposed to be meeting my family at and knew I was near it but wasn't sure exactly where it was. Instead of looking ahead I was looking around and didn't even realize I was blowing right through a red light. I caught a glimpse of another car on my passenger side but it was too late......I slammed on the brakes and swerved left as much as I had time to, but it was too late. I hit her and had 10,000 thoughts run through my head instantly. Kids were in the back, they were fine, I looked over at the other car and realize I just hit a very good friend of ours. Everyone is OK but there is a good bit of damage to my truck and the front driver side of her car is screwed. So, I started this thread mostly to document the process and to show how the truck held up. This REALLY sucks bigtime, but I'm hoping I can get it back to normal quickly. The passenger side suspension really took a hit and the front tire is definitely leaning at a bad angle. I'm worried about my insurance company and if they will cover any of these aftermarket parts (suspension, bumper, wheel etc.). Anybody else had to deal with this type of situation? Anyways.......here's the carnage:

That sucks man, but I'm glad everyone is ok. It could have been a lot worse. Good luck with your insurance company.

Thanks. Yeah, it could have been much worse if I had hit her broadside. I'm gonna go to bed and maybe when I wake up this will all be just a bad dream:(.

I'm an insurance appraiser myself dealing in auto claims. If the aftermarket parts are covered or not definitely depends on your insurance policy. Some policies cover it no question, others nothing will be covered. Several policies now require an additional endorsement (ie. notifying your insurance agent/company about the aftermarket parts once installed and purchasing more coverage for the).

From what I'm seeing, it's a decent hit and nothing that isn't somewhat easily repairable. PM me if you have questions or need help on the whole process.

Sad to hear dude. That really sucks. I hope everything goes good and you get that beast back up. I almost had a wreck today. Some dude was crossing the street even through he had the stop sign and i hit the curb pretty hard trying to not hit him. Haven't had the time but I bet some stuff will be messed up.

Sorry to hear about your incident. My truck was involved in a collision a few months ago (my son was driving) and the other driver pretty much smacked right into the pass. side wheel.
Other than a bent running board my wife thought everything was fine but I discovered the steering wheel was not straight. Took it to a body shop and the steering knuckle was bent.

Thanks guys!! Unfortunately the dent is still there this morning. Looks like I'm going to have to drive my old crappy Bronco for a while. JHodge: It looks like the bumper held up well enough, the side wing is pushed up and in about half an inch and a couple of the bolts sheared off but hopefully I will get by with only having to order that one piece of the bumper. Thanks for the kind words guys.......I still can't believe I did something so stupid. Hopefully the insurance man will relieve some of my fears today, keep your fingers crossed.

    Glad everyone's "okay."

Did you happen to take any pictures of the other car? Doesn't matter too much but I was always wondering what kind of damage these after market bumpers would do to another vehicle after a wreck.

I didn't take any pictures of her car but I might swing by the dealership today to take a better look at hers and I'll snap a few if I can.
