    some people have
Yeah, except nobody really cares about how you haul your own children, I mean it isn't a safety risk for other innocent people on the road, like pulling an over weight trailer with a mid size Tacoma.
Some people just have no common sense.

Man I came here cause I was going to defend towing a trailer that is entirely legal and reasonable to tow behind a 3rd gen (I have a larger holiday trailer that weights ~2000lbs more)…

…..and then this guy ‘had’ to tow it illegally without trailer brakes and presumably no rearward visibility. Nevermind….

To those mad about towing with a Tacoma… there is nothing inherently unsafe about it, and if you think its wrong you should be mad about all the tractor-trailer units all over the highway with far greater stopping distances and far less control of their load. Assuming everything is correctly set up on the Tacoma-towed trailer including brakes (that are correctly set up), weight distribution properly balanced including tongue weight, visibility the trailer, lighting, appropriate speed for driving conditions, lights, etc…, the Tacoma has more control of a load which weighs as much or slightly more than it, than does an average tractor-trailer unit (that is also set up legally and everything in working order) where the truck weighs ~15000lbs and the towed weight is ~30000-80000lbs.

@Suislide OP: why did you “HAVE” to tow it without brakes or rearward visibility?
