Yes, should work. I have an OBDLink LX that works with Carista.

Edit: The OBDLink MX+ is basically the OBDLink LX + the BMW specific tool + the Ford and Chevy add ons. For whatever reason, Carista doesn't work with Hondas, at all. Which is weird. And it uses bluetooth 5.1, whereas the LX uses 3.0. The LX doesn't work with iOS so I had to use my burner phone.

Throwing my 2 cents in. Rode in a 23 Sequia hybrid and the engine noise is significantly louder that my Tacoma. I they they are extra compensating for replacing the V8. However, my kid (Gen Z) hears the noise in the Taco and still thinks its sporty AF and should be able to race muscle cars (we have some learning to do). My 23 Colorado has significantly more engine clatter and I genuinely think it needs help but the dealership is so inept they drove me to Toyota. ALso, I only buy first years of new models so that I can come online and fight keyboard warriors. Yes, Im in line for a 2025 4Runner so come at me.

PS today the Carista's are on sale on Amazon and if anyone is west slope buy me a beer and I will get you tuned up.

My understanding is that the MTs do not have the noise cancellation, or fake engine noise, or whatever it is called.

Yeah, I was able to get in with the OBDLink MX+ and Carista app and my MT does not have it.

My truck also did not come with hood insulation, so I bought the OEM mat during one of the holiday sales and it reduced engine clatter noticeably.

Sir that is an "enhancement." The R&D budget that could have gone for a front locker was spent on this "enhancement" and piston powered bucket seats, so be thankful for that.

This has been a trend among a lot of automakers.

Hyundai took this to the next level with the Ionic 5 EV..... Simulated engine sounds, simulated gear shifts, simulated exhaust crackles and pops.... For an EV.

Isn't that just in the ioniq5 N? Seems like it's self aware... Not like they're trying to fool anybody it's clearly just for fun.

Good catch, only on the N.

In the end I don't think the fake noise would bother me too much. I am glad it can be turned off though.

Yeah me too. If I had to buy an EV it would probably be what I'd get. Seems like it's genuinely fun from the reviews I've seen, not too common among EVs

Thankful every day. It had to take a meeting of the worlds top sound engineers to produce such a symphony for my ears.

My favorite part about the Toyota engines is the unpleasant agricultural ticking sounds they make. It's like an old belt driven threshing machine. I have a Triumph Triple, and I thought that was a loud and rattley engine, but it's nothing compared to the Tacoma engine.

What the sound of the Toyota engines is based off:

I was hoping to hold out for an EV/PHEV/hybrid truck but have decided to hold onto my '19 LB for as long as possible and get an EV daily. Ioniq5 or 6 are what Im looking at.

Ok I tried the Carista app to disable the "engine sound enhancement." It is much better. The bizarre rattling at 2-3k RPM is mostly gone and now the inside of the truck sounds exactly like it does on the outside -- like a Camry.

Do all trim levels have the 'engine sound enhancement', or just certain trim levels?
