Moved from a 95 Honda Civic to my 2017 TRD Sport 4x4. My Civic has 366k miles on it and still runs great. Original owner and I took great care of it and it took great care of me....hoping my Tacoma does the same.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I'd go 8k tops or walk. I ain't gonna sugar coat this... expect to spend another 5k, because that's the way TW wants it Good luck whatever happens!

If maintenance was well kept I say go for it, but with that many miles I probably wouldn't pay more than 8000-9000 for it. You can have a million miles and still drive like new or you can have 100k miles and its falling apart. Maintenance is everything.

My bank account hates you.

    OP
I have an 06 and blew a head gasket at 238k. If it hasn't happened then... I found out here, after the fact, that a redesigned head gasket didn't get used till 07. Check it out at least. Drive it and listen for the sounds of water running through a pipe with air in it. That's what I heard.
Still got it, on a new frame just over a year old.

Will testing compression tell me anything regarding the head gasket?

I'm now thinking I may just hold off unless I can get it for 8 or 9.

Dude there are allot of newer Tacomas on the lot at AutoNation in St. Pete / Pinellas Park. They need to move the floor plan.
    Good Luck!

If you want it offer them $8,000,they know darn well getting any more than that for the truck is near impossible unless a fool comes along.Get $8,000 cash in your hand and go look at the truck, make sure the owner see's all those bills in your hand,CASH TALKS.

I can't see paying $10k for anything with 250k miles on it.

Inspect frame for rust. Old Tacos had garbage frames. Salt or no.

I personally would not that much for a truck with that many miles.

You did well with the insurance payout. Too bad it was a total loss. Those are classics

$500 over blue book for some reason wasn't asking no questions, but the truck was in excellent condition even with the miles on it, also I had just put a new Diehard battery in it month prior:annoyed:
