I have heard really good things about the KM3. I'll have to look at all the specs when they become available. But my OE tires probably won't make it longer than a few more months, so if they're not out by then, oh well.
If it really is a better ride, then it's gotta be due to a softer compound...?

This was basically my train of thought. I'd be extremely surprised if it turned out to be lighter than the KO2, which is basically my top reason for going to this size.

I'm amazed the Duratrac is lighter than the KO2 though, so I'm gonna have to look closely at that too. Price seems to be much lower without too many performance compromises, so it may end up beating out the KO2 for me actually.

The Duratrac looks good to me. Nice tread and weight

I used to run 255/75/17 Duratracs (LT version). They are very light (they weigh under 40lbs) and are a good tire. May be one of the lightest 255's you will find out there if you are good with a P-rated tire. I moved to 265/70's more so from the perspective of the stance with it being slightly wider.

Any change in mileage due to width increase? I know 285s will hit mpgs but I was curious if this slight bump in width did

The mileage, adjusting for the fact the odometer is slightly off given the aftermarket size, changed a little but I think that is more due to the change in weight versus the width increase. I believe the Duratracs are around 38lbs in the 255/75/17 P-rated. I currently run a 265/70/17 P-rated Falken Wildpeak, which is 46.5 lbs. Overall, the drop is maybe around 1MPG based upon my driving habits.

    Thread revival!

Guys running the 255/75/17s, how does it handle in turns on the highway around 75mph? Does it feel like there is more of a tipping chance than the 265/70/17s-stock?

No. Your only talking 5mm outward protrusion difference per side, the difference is very minimal.

Running 255/75/17s with 4Runner TRD Pro wheels. I've driven multiple times on a curvy highway through the mountains at 70-80 mph and felt no difference in stability in comparison to stock.

I appreciate the responses guys. I ran over a screw the other day and I think I'm going to use it as an excuse to go get a set of 255s :D

I also run the 255/75-17 SL load duratracs on an aftermarket wheel. The whole setup is lighter than stock wheels and tires despite the height difference. Really like the duratracs.

I got 5 (including spare) new take offs from a Jeep Gladiator for under $500 (after selling jeep wheels). I was able to sell my new factory wheels/tires for $1000. If you like this look then jeep take offs are the way to go.

255/75/17 Cooper AT3 4s. Very light, and so far excellent at both high speed highway driving, FSR running, and a little bit of wheeling.
