Just ordered the TRD Pro wheels off ebay and looking at wrapping them in either:

    255/75/17 BFG KM
    265/70/17 BFG KO/2

Weight is within 1lbs. The 255 is .5" taller - any issues with rub?

Main reason I'm looking at the KM is it's about $40 cheaper in that size, but I do like the pizza cutter look.

The biggest problem with big tires and no regearing is that your truck is going to run like a dead dog. Even stock, a Tacoma can barely beat a good mountain bike off the line.

I have the 265/70/17's on mine and love them. There is a slight rubbing on the fronts with the WT mud guards. According to WT, they did their testing with the largest stock tire which is the 265/65/17. I live with the rub, and have detected no performance issues.

I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3's in 265/70/17. No mud guards so I should be good.

Just curious, why didn't you consider 255/70/17?

Really just came down to price and options. I was initially looking at KO2's and there is basically no meaningful difference in price or weight. The 265's are .5" taller. If I wanted to stay as close to stock diameter as possible it would have been an option, but I'm one of those guys searching "biggest tire on stock suspension". My build is in incremental phases as funds are available and choice was either lift or wheels/tires.....chicken or the egg, and I went with wheels/tires. In the end the selection in 255/75/17 was limited and the deal on the Falkens was too good to pass up. Realistically from what I've seen of other members with this set-up I may not even do a lift and if so it would be pretty modest.

@GNFGHTR09 what has been your experience with the 265/70/17s? I share your sentiment about finding the biggest tire that fits the stock suspension. I'm thinking of trying out the FN Fx Pro 17" wheels with 265/65/17 but it would be nice to know if the 265/70/17 are rubbing how much and when? Thanks for the help.

No rubbing at all! Absolutely perfect setup IMHO. Really happy with the wild peaks - aggressive, but quiet. Averaging 22mpg on the highway on my 35 mile commute to work.

Awesome great feedback on the MPG! I have about a 29 mile commute so I didn't want to kill my MPG either. I'm looking at the Nitto Grappler g2 but I'll examine the Falken Wildpeaks now.

Where did you order the aftermarket stickers on the bed? Ive been looking at putting a mudsplash decal on both sides of mine from SupDec but ive heard some bad reviews about them.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
This is the exact same setup I'm going with, thanks for the informative thread, this was a big help. I'm going Wildpeaks with non-LT since I'm rarely wayyy off road, just dirt roads and small obstacles.
