Installed 255/80/17 Toyo OC R/T on my 3rd Gen on stock Sr5 suspension and it rubbed like a son of a biscuit. Knock the pinch weld back with sledge hammer, and use heat gun to reform plastic wheel well liner front and back.

Got my 255/80/17 ST Maxx Mounted up on my totally stock 2018 TRD sport yesterday. Stock wheels/stock height. No rubbing so far and I doubt it will ever rub. I haven't been able to really stuff them yet but did try in a small ditch and had no issues. Tires are quiet enough for an aggressive AT/MT hybrid tire. I will wait to comment on how smooth they are. I have a little more vibration than expected, but they have 7 miles on them. I plan to drive the truck quite a bit this weekend and I will report back then.

Here it is. The conclusive evidence I searched high and low for STOCK 3rd Gen sport with 255/80 pizza cutters.

I like them a lot so far. They have smoothed out some with a few miles. Did some fairly light wheeling with some mud and rocks involved. They seemed to have very good traction in the mud. I wont be encountering any true test for the tires til winter though. That is when the "roads" to some livestock get pretty rough.

I plan to try some balance beads in them here in the next couple of weeks. The beads have worked great for me on motorcycle tires. I figure they are worth a shot in the truck tires. They took a ton of weight to balance.

Can you get some pictures or measurements while turning/stuff? Really looking into the FX Pro 17x8 et 0 with these 255/80s, and I think it will be pretty tight. But you're giving me hope with your setup

Looks great! What lift are you running?
I’m trying to decide if I’m going with 255/75/17 or 255/80/17 once I install my ome lift.

Chiming in with a touch smaller size for comparison. Just put 255/75r17s on my stock 2013 Sport this morning. Couldnt feel, see, or hear a rub through 15 mi of city driving and a tight parking garage downtown getting to work. I love the fit stock, but if I was going to lift I think I'd go up to 80s.

265/65r17 on top. Front and rear with the 255s20180828_120204.jpg 20180828_120132.jpg 20180828_120123.jpg

Just wanted to check if anyone has added 255/80/17 on a stock 2017 OR. No spacers

I don't mind trimming wheel walls. I'm planning on using cooper st max on 17" trd pro rims.

I'm planning on getting a lift kit, but not for a while.

Your truck looks excellent with those shoes! That said, can you please confirm your new tire and wheel sizes? The ones you posted don't match or make sense. Thanks ahead of time!

Not sure how that happened... I just fixed the original post. They’re 255/80r17s (as it says in the thread title). Wheel size is correct

That's what I figured, but thank you for clearing it up! The main reason I asked is because I think I may copy your combo.

Just thought I'd post something that worked for me- 255/80R17 Cooper ST MAXX on T4R TRDPRO wheels, 1.5" leveling spacer (was there when I bought it), Camburg Balljoint UCA's (to add caster), no wheel spacers, no trimming. Front hub to fender measures 22". Husky mud flaps intact with no rubbing on road or off so far. Pic was taken right after install.

To add- tires are pretty flush with fenderwell with this wheel/tire combo. I’ll update with more pics later.

Anyone running 17” Ray10’s with a 255/80R17 tire? If so what lift and do you have any rubbing? I know the Ray10’s are 17x8.5 and many people say the 4.5 backspacing is the only dimension that matters with rims. But I’m wondering about a rim that is 1.5” wider than stock if there would be any rubbing?

New tires and wheels on a dirty taco! To answer my own question for any who are interested you can fit Falken Wildpeak AT3W 255/80R17 on SCS Ray10’s with a stock SR5 2014 Tacoma suspension. I did a CMC, pinch weld flange bend, reshaped my plastic fender liners, and trimmed my inner fender liner a bit. I plan to upgrade the suspension eventually but I started with the rims and tires first. It can be done!

Good insight. Thanks for confirming the spare tire fit. I think I am leaning on following your advice and going with the 75s.

New wheels and tires. I can successfully say Cooper Maxx 255/80/17 + 4Runner wheels will fit a ‘19 OR with stock suspension.

Looks like it all comes down to the wheels used. Cuz I have 16" Ray-10s with 265/75R16 ST Maxx and I rub turning in parking lots. At medium stuff, my tires are squealing around the top of the fender liner too.

Any remolding or chopping for either of you to get them to fit?
