255/80 r17 options

I know about the Cooper ST/MAXX... but that's about it. Anyone else know of any tires in this size? I prefer an aggressive looking tread but she's a road queen about 95% of the time. It's weird how I couldn't find any of the more popular (A/T) tires in this size.

Don't think so. Their Discoverer S/T doesn't even come in 255 r17, and neither does the AT3 and the STT Pro only goes up to 75.

 

then look at the BFG's. If you are looking for several options in this size you are SOL. Your options increase significantly if you drop the aspect ratio to 75

 

Not really looking for LOTS of options, just more than 1. I have 265/70s on there right now and looking to go bigger to match the Ironman lift I have on there. Rather not go lower than the 80s.

 

unfortunately, to get close to a 33" overall diameter on a 17" wheel, you will have to go to 285 70's to get options. 255 80 is not a common size, but the ST Maxx in that size is a very popular tire on this site. Everyone raves about them.

 

Yeah I've pretty much decided to buy them, and I probably won't regret it. But since it was such an uncommon size I figured I would ask you guys if you had any other options before I took the plunge.

BTW, the BFG KO2 comes in a tall and skinny 17", but its overall diameter is closer to 34"

 

Oh man I didn't even see that thread. Probably because I searched "255/80 r17" and not "255/80/17". And yeah, I'm looking at A/T pretty exclusively. No use in putting big, heavy, loud tires on if I'm not going in the mud with them very often.

 

If you feel courageous, the BFG ATKO2 comes in a 34x10.5r17. Skinny and tall, but it's hard to imagine you could run these without a CMC.

 

Nah, not looking to do any cutting if I can help it. I'll save those for when I decide to leave society for good.

 

The KO2 is severe weather ( snowflake ) rated too

 

Then go 255/75/17 or 275/70/17

Damn OZ-T, do you ever sleep? And are you saying I'll have to a CMC if I run these (255/80 r17) with a 2" lift? I'm ok with cutting plastic, but the metal bits I'd like to leave alone.

Depends on your wheels and caster

 

With a 33" tire, it is likely you will contact the Cab Mount somewhat, moreso when your suspension is flexed hard
