Agree, looks great on your rig! In comparison to my old 265/70/17 the width almost looks exactly the same. Just some more ground clearance. Also love the option to stud the Coopers vs the KO2s.

Exactly! I noticed no difference at all between 265s and 255s. Maybe it's specific to the Maxx, but either way these are a hard tire to beat. I personally wheel with 4 people that are running 255 Maxx. It's just a damn good tire.

I concur. Great tire so far! I'm very happy I switched from the KO's to Maxx!

Anyone running this tire size with OEM TRD 4runner SEMA/Pro wheels with stock/zero lift?

I know the 255/85/r16 fits with no lift according to that thread. The 255/80/17r is nearly identical so I would assume so. Not 100%sure though.

Thanks guys. The two tires are the same size and have read they fit with stock wheels/suspension with no rub but the SEMA wheel has 4mm offset whereas the TRD OR and Sport wheel have 25mm offset. So wanted to hear from anyone who has run 255/80r17 tires with the SEMA wheels and if they had any rubbing or needed some lift.

Looks great! - probably going this same route - so any updated impressions compared to the prior tire size? power, mpg?

Honestly I feel no difference compared to the 265/70/r17 I was previously running. MPG and power feel exactly the same. I can confidently say that in the snow the Cooper 255's feel much more composed. So far love em!

thanks for the feedback - this is my daily driver so don't want to kill my MPG plus it's gotta handle rocks in Colorado, desert in Utah and snow in Denver, etc. - that size tire looks perfect.

Has anyone gone from 265/75 17s to the 255/80s in the same brand tire?

Several have mentioned very little difference adding the 1.5 inches of tire, but is this because of them being skinnier or possibly lighter? (Or close)

OP states he has ko2s, were the load e or c? The maxxs that we're referenced (and others I looked up) at 255/80 are all load c....

I went with a 265/75 17 Toyo open country at2 in a load c specifically because of their weight... Been looking at the Maxx for my next set and like the option

My 255/80/17 ST MAXX are load range E and as of the last time I checked the 255 MAXX's only come in E. Personally I went from a 285/70/17 load range P to the Maxx's and didn't notice any significant difference as far as I can tell because of the 255's being narrower they offer a smaller contact patch decreasing surface contact and friction

Yep - one quick question. You mention you don't feel much difference in power loss between the smaller K Bros - Did you have the heavier e-load or the lighter C load? - 46 lbs vs 53 lbs. Just curious.

I went with a 265 70 17 Toyo open country at2 because they are at only 41 lbs but is a load p...

They offer a 255 80 as well but only in an e that comes in at 50 lbs

Edit: I just looked it up and the Cooper's are at 58 lbs which is a big difference

I had the C load. It might be because of the different OVTunes I've gone through. I jumped from a 1.02 map with the KO2 to th 1.03 test tune with the Coopers....sorry that I forgot to mention this part....
